After receiving a guilty verdict and subsequent sentence, it appears that all is lost for the nation of Israel. However, Isaiah turns to God for continued hope. As he confesses his sin he finds that God is faithful and just to cleanse and purge him of his unrighteousness and he his consequently chosen by Him to be God's spokesman to the nation. While it is apparent that most will refuse to turn from their sinful lifestyle, God promises that there will be a remnant; a holy seed that will be delivered from judgment. This same promise of hope remains for us today as we follow Isaiah's pattern of confession, cleansing, commissioning, and proclamation of God's message to the world.
