  • Rays (S29) Off Day #16 (7/15/26)

All five Tampa Bay Rays on the American League All-Star roster played and the good news is, Junior Caminero’s X-rays were negative for broken bones, which means getting hit by a pitch in his second at bat may not cost him playing time. Yandy Diaz went 0-2 with two strikeouts, Drew Rasmussen and Nick Martinez each pitched a full inning, and Bryan Baker came in to close out the 9th with one out in a 3 hit 4-0 shutout for the A.L. over the N.L, the first shutout since 2013 and the second shutout in Philadelphia’s five All-Star Games hosted. It’s also the fourth A.L. shutout of the N.L. and the tenth shutout in A.S.G. history.

Today is the 16th time this season Tampa Bay has been off since the season opener and the first, and only time it has been a Wednesday without Rays baseball. Tampa Bay also had one Friday off-day (the first, on March 27th), a Tuesday (yesterday, July 14t), three Mondays (yesterday, July 13th, June 29th, and April 13th) and ten Thursdays off. This season, there are 24 scheduled days off, which does not include rain delays or postponements or possible days off between the regular season and post-season or between post-season games.

Tampa Bay has no games between this day off and the next (Thursday, July 16th) which is a league wide day off for all players EXCEPT for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, who start a weekend series a day before the rest of the league, then have Friday off. The next game(s) for the Rays are on Friday, July 17th, with games 95 and 96 of the season, games 14 and 15 of the second half of the 162 game schedule.
