Recently Ray and I were sent copies of the soon-to-be-released book, Who's Got Your Back? by David W. Smith. Here's a quick preview:
Who’s Got Your Back? provides a clarion call for men to be the kind of men modeled for us by Jesus. This is a playbook on how to be strong, task oriented and achieving, but also warm-hearted and unmistakably relationship driven during the rough and tumble of everyday life. This good book brings into sharp focus a genuine and functional and real-life definition of manliness. David Smith has skillfully woven stories with practical application strategies for building more satisfying friendships. Those who have your back will usually be the same individuals who know they can count on you in the good times and in times of trouble.
So tune in as Ray chat about this book and need for genuine, Biblical friendship.

This week we're talking to a special guest musical artist Josh Calhoun. Josh was once a member of the popular Christian band Citizen's Way but now sticks a little closer to home focusing on his roles as husband, father and local church leader. In this his first solo album, he publishes a number of his own songs exploring his heart and walk with the Lord. As we chat, we talk about his music, his faith and his family. I had a lot of fun with this interview and I think you'll enjoy it.

Sometimes we forget that God is working outside the four walls of our particular churches. God is even at work within cultures much different than our, cultures we may not even realize exist. Doug Shaw of Forthright Ministries has a new project he is working on to expose how Christ is moving among tribal peoples. You will want to hear some of the exciting stories Doug has been able to collect from around the world and even right next door.

This week joining us on the podcast is author Jennifer Greenberg. Jennifer's book, Not Forsaken, is her story of how her faith in Christ helped her become a survivor of terrible childhood abuse. She gives readers an inside look into the mind of an abuse victim and It is, by far, the most powerful book I've read all year. But, I warn you, it is a difficult read - yet an important one. If you have been the victim of abuse or if you wish to minister to those who have been, you need to read this book!

The Basic Bible Podcast seeks to take high-level theology and place it down on the bottom shelf for everyone to enjoy. That’s right – enjoy. Theology is not merely an academic pursuit but…
Each week we will discuss a different theological concept and unpack its meaning in a way that is both edifying and applicable. Joining us will be local pastors and theologians with a desire to see you grow as we discuss the truths we hold so dear. We’ll define our terms, look at the pertinent Scripture, discuss dangers to be avoided and then always end on a practical note. We’ll make it easy for you to think through and then leave you with a few resources in case you want to dive in a little deeper.
