Earlier this month I was privileged enough to attend the Doctrine and Devotion Conference once again. This time I had a chance to record a few quick interview. I ask Joe Thorn to advise the "Lonely Calvinist." I talk to Barnabas Piper about reading habits. Dr. Jim Hamilton was kind enough to tell me about the dangers of not having a coherent Biblical theology. I was also able to chat with representatives from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and International Reformed Baptist Seminary.

This we jump into the First Commandment. What does it mean to have no other gods? How do we define idolatry? Since few in our churches are guilty of bowing down worshiping statues, does this commandment even apply to us today? Joining me to discus these questions and more is Pastor Allen Nelson of the Perryville Second Baptist Church in Arkansas and author of the book From Death to Life. Pastor Nelson also blogs at Things Above.

The Basic Bible Podcast seeks to take high-level theology and place it down on the bottom shelf for everyone to enjoy. That’s right – enjoy. Theology is not merely an academic pursuit but…
Each week we will discuss a different theological concept and unpack its meaning in a way that is both edifying and applicable. Joining us will be local pastors and theologians with a desire to see you grow as we discuss the truths we hold so dear. We’ll define our terms, look at the pertinent Scripture, discuss dangers to be avoided and then always end on a practical note. We’ll make it easy for you to think through and then leave you with a few resources in case you want to dive in a little deeper.
