Hier treffen moderne Personenzüge auf internationale Güterverkehre. An diesem Tag sind besonders viele interessante Kompositionen unterwegs: SBB, BLS, WRS, Beacon und weitere Betreiber. Dazu kommen starke E-Loks und teilweise sehr lange Güterzüge.

Mit drei Kameras gleichzeitig unterwegs, versuchen wir, so wenig wie möglich zu verpassen. Die Züge verlassen Olten in verschiedene Richtungen – unter anderem Richtung Hauenstein, Gotthard und Simplon. Gleichzeitig durchqueren modernste Personenzüge den wichtigen Bahnknoten.

Und weil es in Olten einfach nicht aufhören will, bleiben die Kameras bis in die Nacht im Einsatz.

Ein Tag, an dem in Olten einfach alles zusammenkommt – moderne Personenzüge, starke E-Loks, lange Güterzüge und jede Menge Eisenbahn-Action. 🇨🇭

[EN] Olten – one of Switzerland’s most fascinating railway hubs.

This is where modern passenger trains meet international freight traffic. On this particular day, there is an especially interesting mix of trains in operation, including SBB, BLS, WRS, Beacon, and other operators. Powerful electric locomotives and some very long freight trains add to the action.

With three cameras running at the same time, we try not to miss a thing. Trains leave Olten in several directions, including toward the Hauenstein, Gotthard, and Simplon routes. At the same time, some of Switzerland’s most modern passenger trains pass through this important railway hub.

And because the action in Olten simply doesn’t seem to stop, we keep the cameras rolling well into the night.

I've folded a lot of 8-page zines before but now I'm getting into 14-page zines. There's a lot of folds and I discovered a few things that make it a little easier. I'm sure that most people already into this hobby already have mastered it but I didn't do much research so I'm documenting what I find as I go. This was meant to be a private video but it was too long to post in Signal so I'm posting it here. I hope other people are able to learn something from it or give me ideas on how to be more efficient.

Four walkthroughs in one: the quest server, custom quest items, the quest giver, and then a whole quest built from an empty form.

Drakkhis goes through the SL Colonies quest system properly — what each piece is for, and how they fit together once you actually sit down to write a job for your players.

🎁 THE QUEST SERVER holds your rewards. Second Life objects go in through its contents and can be given out as often as you like; in-game items go in from your own inventory and are counted down as they are handed over.

🐱 CUSTOM QUEST ITEMS invent actions the game does not have. Drop the scripts into any object, give it a name and an action — pet a cat, read a tome — and it becomes something a quest can ask for. Built-in actions are refused outright, so you cannot redefine gathering by accident.

🧍 THE QUEST GIVER goes in any object you like, and there is a reason it is not animesh: animesh makes people right-click and choose Touch, and a quest giver should answer a plain left-click. Set its reach in metres, then tick GIVE and TURN IN — a giver can do one, the other, or both, so a job can be taken in one place and handed in somewhere else.

🧱 THEN THE QUEST ITSELF, step by step: who may take it, by profession, profession level or stat. What they must already be carrying. What they are handed on the way in. What they have to DO — cook, gather, mill, plough, plant, or an action you invented — and how many times. What gets taken at the end, and what gets given.

💡 CXP and coin rewards are worked out by the system from the quest's own complexity. Ask for little and it pays little; ask for a week's work and it pays accordingly.

Four objects come in the box, and only two of them are compulsory.

Drakkhis opens the SL Colonies quest system and shows what each piece does: the quest HUD your players wear, the quest giver they click, the custom quest item, and the quest server.

📦 The server is OPTIONAL. Quests run without it. What it buys you is rewards: park Second Life objects or in-game items inside, and a quest can hand them over when a player starts or finishes.

⚠️ In-game items are DECREMENTED as they are given. Run the stock down and players stop being offered the quest — so keep it topped up.

🎁 The HUD is copy, mod and transfer. Hand it out, let people resize it, put it in a starter pack. Only the scripts inside are locked.

🐱 Custom quest items let you invent an action the game does not have — pet a cat, read a tome, pick up an apple. Drop the scripts into any object, name it, give it an action. It refuses to shadow a built-in action, so you cannot quietly redefine what gathering means.

📥 Turn-ins go wherever you point them: the quest server by default, or a storage chest — a community storage, say, so the whole colony can draw on what the quests bring in.
