Gooooooood Morning Everyone. We break your normal Friday with a special midnight recorded addition of Sprecken ze Geek. Sarah and TK join us this week and we just got out of Batman v Superman and are ready to dig deep in and go to town. As we mentioned last week, this is a break from our normal format. Just like with Star Wars, we will give you about 5 or so minutes of spoiler free review to say a yay or neigh and then we give you ample warning before going after the meat and potatoes of the movie. The online reviews of this movie are a bit on the bad to ok/good levels and you’re going to find that Bat and I seem to be at ends… like a versus match.
Okay enough of that lets get onto the show. We’re going to be doing our streaming review next week so you still have time to watch Justice League: War and send us your review and/or suggestions for future streaming reviews.
You can suggest streaming movies that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.

That is all for this week’s Blogcast. Next week we will be back to our same Hammer Time and Same Bat Channel.

Welcome my back with another episode of SzG. This week we We have a bunch more nerd news to talk about including: New teasers for Xmen and Warcraft, some new movie trailers, news that Indiana Jones 5 is real, PS VR price and release info, Bioshock Collection, Casting for Aquaman’s Mera and possible PS and Xbone cross platform play.
Bat’s streaming suggestion this week was Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. Yet again we come across another “slice of life” movies. Not to say that we didn’t like it, both of us enjoyed what we saw but felt like it just didn’t hit a home run. The acting was good and the concept was fun but it failed to connect on a few points that lessened the emotional impact of this high school coming of age movie. While we both rated this one as a 3/5 I think I came out a little higher on than Bat.
Next streaming suggestion is my choice so it’s time for some cartoons. We’re going to be watching Justice League: War though we will be skipping the streaming review for this next week due to BvS. Still if you want to give this one a watch in the mean time you can see it on Netflix.

Welcome my back with another episode of SzG. This week we bring you a heaping helping of nerd news including subtle clues about Aquaman and Flash movies, Lionhead Studios closing, J.K. Simmons cast as Gordon and the new Captain America trailer release. We also have a theatrical release of 10 Cloverfield Ln with both spoiler free review and later on with out spoiler filled thoughts. We also have this weeks streaming suggestion of CitizenFour and episode 5 of Making a Murderer.
This week’s streaming suggestion is from one of our fans, Bat’s Heterolifemate. He suggested watching CitizenFour because of our love of documentaries. This is one of those things that we both remember experiencing as it was happening. The day to day leaks and the reactions to each new revelation. As a documentary Bat found this lacking because he said that it didn’t really provide too much new information and the presentation wasn’t very engaging. I felt the exact opposite and thought it gave much of insight into who Snowden was and why he was coming forward. Bat gave this one a 2/5 while I gave it a 4/5.
Next week’s streaming suggestion of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl comes from Bat. This little movie looks adorable and will be a nice change of pace. You can find this one on HBOgo.
You can suggest streaming movies that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.

Welcome my friends, we’re back with another episode of SzG. Yet again we are stuck with a relatively slow news week. This week we discuss Capcom’s Re-Re-Re-releasing, delays with Uncharted 4 and the new Ghostbusters trailer. We also cover this weeks streaming suggestion of The Voices and our spoiler filled reaction to episode 4 of Making a Murderer.
This week’s streaming suggestion is one of my own. We watched The Voices
Next week’s streaming suggestion comes from Bat’s Heterolifemate and listener of the show. Doug asked for us to watch CitizenFour, the Edward Snowden movie. We both watched the trailer and agreed that if you didn’t know the situation this trailer doesn’t do anything to grab you. But because we do know the history involving Snowden we’re both ready for some documentary fun.

Welcome back to another episode of SzG. Again no theatrical review this week and again we’re kind of stuck with little to no news. Except for the ‘controversy’ surrounding the casting of Finn Jones as the immortal Iron Fist, really kids this is just getting silly. Otherwise we dive into some streaming reviews, my 2nd game review in Hammer’s 12, some free shit good shit and our spoiler filled reaction to episode 3 of Making a Murderer.
This week’s streaming suggestion from Bat was Maggie. Both Bat and myself are on the same page that we felt a bit miss lead by the trailer. We expected a no holds bar protect”my slowly zombifiying daughter. But instead we got a very dramatic and more down to earth movie about a father and daughter coming to terms with her inevitable demise. Bat felt a little let down by these turn of events though he still gave it a 3/5. While I loved this different take on a zombie infection and the focus particularly on the daughter and father characters, earning 4/5 from me. Over all we both liked it and I would give it a high recommendation if you liked movies like The Road, though it’s probably only worth a single watch.
Next weeks streaming suggestion of The Voices is brought to you be me. Come watch as we see the murdering psychosis fueled gore comedy staring Ryan Reynolds and Anna Kendrick. Check out the trailer below to see just how weird this one looks. This is available on EpixHD.

Welcome back to another episode of SzG. No theatrical review this week, we’re kind of saving ourselves for BvS next month… crap, can you believe that’s next month? Soon the rest of the comic/geek movie flood will follow suit. But until then we’re stuck with, well with really not much in terms of interesting news. So you’re in store for one of our famous… shoot the shit podcasts. Bat talks his experiences with Amazing Arizona Comic Con, I recount what I can remember from AZ Strong Beer Fest, we talk about what Deadpool’s success means for future comic book movies, also we dive into the future and past of video games along with our streaming review of Project Almanac and Episode 2 spoiler review of Making a Murderer.
This week’s fan streaming suggestion from TK was Project Almanac. Over all Bat and I came out a little at ends with this movie. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, not perfect by any means but it had some interesting concepts and garnered a 3/5 from me. It’s not really worth a repeat viewing but it was fun for a one off. Bat on the other hand didn’t enjoy it as much and gave it a 2/5. He put it very succinctly by saying it was Butterfly Effect but not done as well.” He’s spot on, this movie does a lot of the same things but not as well and is hampered by the “found footage” feel. I think we both can agree that if you found the time travel aspect neat, then watch a better version of it and go see Butterfly Effect.
Next week’s streaming review of Maggie was chosen by Bat. We both loved the idea of this movie when we saw the initial trailer and concept but never made it out to the theater to see it. Schwarzenegger protecting his daughter who is slowly turning into a zombie… sign me up. This is one I’m all in for. If you want to watch along you can find this on EpixHD and we believe HuluPlus.

Welcome back to another episode of SzG. God it feels like Summer movie season is already starting. This week we get back into the theater to review Deadpool, which we were both excited but trepidaticious about. We discuss the one nerd news of note (at least to us) and we lay out a series of movie and streaming reviews including last weeks choice of The Theory of Everything.
I am so incredibly happy that we are back to choosing movies that we actually might like. this weeks choice was The Theory of Everything. The reason for this choice was two fold. I have always been very interested in Stephen Hawking and I wanted to give Redmayne one more shot. This movie fulfilled both of these asks in spades. I now know more about an iconic mind of our time and I was treated to some honestly astounding acting. Redmayne really put his all into this performance. Something that could have easily gone south or been seen as inappropriately funny was done so tastefully and respectfully that you couldn’t help but feel the weight of all of these changes. We both really liked this movie and gave it 4 out of 5. The only thing holding it back from a 5 for both of us is simply because we know this is a one time watch for us but it was well worth the time, give it a watch.
Next week we have a fan suggestion from TK, Project Almanac. Beside the plane crash scandal that surrounded this movie I don’t know much other than it looks to be sort of foundfootage time travel movie. If you want to watch this one you can find it on Amazon Prime Video.

Welcome back to another episode of SzG. Sorry for the missed show last week but I had to catch my fair share of death. Can’t have my co-host doing all of the dying on his lonesome. But now that I’m in working order, of sorts, we’re back and ready to talk about this weeks nerd news: Elizabeth Banks cast in Power Rangers, Dangerous Golf announced, Star Wars Battle front DLC, possible Hasbro and Matel merger, more DeLoreans, Lego TFA,and Flash showing up on Supergirl. We also bring you our streaming review of 50 Shades of Grey and our series review of True Detective season 2.
This weeks Streaming Punishment of 50 Shades of Grey was brought to you by Bat. And I can tell you quite succinctly that there really isn’t anything redeeming about this movie. Its just plain boring. There is no chemistry and honestly I could give two shits about the characters. Even the ‘shock value’ is severely diminished as it felt like a bad Cinemax after hours movie with writing done by a part-time Lifetime intern. Please do your self a favor and find something more productive to do with your time that waste it on this movie or it’s possible sequels.
Alright, an armistice has been agreed upon and we will stop intentionally throwing the bad movies back and forth. so for next weeks streaming review we are going to be watching The Theory of Everything. We saw a horrible performance by Redmayne in Jupiter’s Ascending but everyone is saying that he was magnificent in this movie. We’re looking forward to seeing if that’s the case and hope you will join us on this adventure.

Welcome back to another episode of SzG for the new year. This week we tackle the smattering of new DC news, Wonder Woman sneak peak and new Suicide Squad trailer as well as our streaming review of Ridiculous 6.
This weeks Streaming Suggestion of The Ridiculous 6 was brought you by myself. Again it just seems like Adam Sandler movies have lost their adorable buffoon sheen. This one has Sandler playing a straight faced Zohan esque character who inadvertently gathers up 5 of his half brothers to save his father. Bat really, really, really hated me for this one and says stay far away from it. If he could have given it less than a star then he would. I thought it was poorly executed, not the worst but far from the best. I gave it 2 stars because honestly you are honestly better served by spending your time else where.
As my retribution Bat has determined that we are watching 50 Shades of Grey for next weeks Streaming Suggestion. I have heard nothing good about this movie so I’m sure we’re going to have fun tearing this apart… might need some booze. Check you the trailer and see what you think.

Welcome back to the first full(ish) normal episode of SzG for the new year. Took us a little bit but we’re back on the wagon with our first streaming review of the year, a sprinkling of some nerd news and our podquestion. This weeks Nerd news is pretty slim but it includes:
This year is also off to a bit of a rough start with two major celebrity deaths rocking us. First was David Bowie and then Alan Rickman, both of these great entertainers were taken by Cancer. Sometimes it can be hard to explain why these celebrity deaths affect us so. But There was a wonderful tweet I saw online that really put it into perspective.
This weeks Streaming Suggestion, submitted by Mando, was UnBranded. This film was half documentary and half challenge attempt. The documentary side of the movie has it addressing the issue of wild horses on federally preserved land and the issues with sustainability due to booming populations. This honestly is a topic i had absolutely no knowledge about prior to this movie, and as with most documentary movies this one is skewed towards the message it wants to spread. That our current process in simply unsustainable.
The other part of the movie has 4 cowboys training 13 wild horses and taking them on a roughly 5 month trek from the US Mexico boarder to the US Canada boarder. This journey has a little less of a reason besides that “we did it because we could and few others have” mentality. Not saying it’s not impressive, because damn it is, but it does seem a bit less focused at times.
The cinematography is beautiful and the sights that they capture are truly a wonder to behold. Both Bat and myself liked this one, though he gave it a 3 while I gave it a 4. We both thought it was worth the watch. If you’re down for something a little bit different why dint you give this ones a chance.
Kind of keeping with the wild west theme, next weeks Streaming Suggestion is going to be The Ridiculous 6. This one’s my fault, well it is if it’s bad. But I do have hopes for a few laughs from this one. Check you the trailer and see what you think.
Just like our dear friend Mando, you can suggest streaming movies that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBOgo.
