Episode 26 and climbing. The Batting Practice podcast is proudly hosted every week by Andrew, Jacob, and Josh every week with new episodes released on Saturday. Thank you to all who have listened and supported us. We are just getting started.

This was a fun one to record as the hour flew by leaving us excited by our hot takes and the future of Sorare. In case you missed it or smartly do not have a Twitter, the Sorare community has been extremely vocal over the last few weeks with pitchforks promptly out decrying card prices, auction rates, rewards, and honestly anything that came to mind. While we do like to call out Sorare when we think things can be improved, we largely stand with Sorare in this case and wish more folks would stay rational. However, as podcast creators, we love the opportunity this gives us to talk about it and offer our thoughts.

MLS returns this weekend which means that Soccer is finally back in the continental United States after a long offseason that saw Emanuel Reynoso disappear and several exciting players join the league. Thanks to Jacob, we are all Charlotte FC fans and are rooting for them to grow in their 2nd season even with tough losses like losing Kahlinha. 

Josh had a great week and is the first of the Batting Practice hosts to win a card from the new free to play contests after his Premier League lineup went Off! We share a little bit of our strategies but will save the rest for a future episode.

We end our discussion with our look at the Sorare MLB market or lack there of. While things are quiet currently in the offseason, we expect things to pick up as we get closer to the start of the 2023 season. This should bring the arrival of Season 2 cards and an uptick in auctions (oh no!!)

We have made it to Episode 25 and are still going strong. We are on the cusp of baseball returning in its totality with pitchers and catchers reporting this week :) 

The World Baseball Classic is fast approaching and the boys discuss whether this will help or hurt players at the start of the season.

The main topic of today's podcast is gamemodes. They are the most important part of the game and are literally the game itself. Currently we only have 2 plain gamemodes that allow users to win cards of the same scarcity or one higher. We expect Sorare MLB to closely mirror Sorare NBA in their contest requirements and require more Rare cards in Rare divisions.

Next, we put on our tin-foil, I mean creative hats, to come up with some fresh new game ideas for the MLB product. Let us know what you think of our ideas or if you have some of your own. The best idea will get a shout out on our next episode.

Can you feel the spring in the air? If you are like me trapped in this perpetual winter of the midwest than hang in there. It is a welcome change experiencing positive temperatures in Chicago after experience the subzero chills of Minnesota. 

Pitchers and Catchers report next week and before we know it, baseball will be back! Here on Batting Practice, we are making it a goal to be more active on social media from Twitter to YouTube to TikTok. Thank you to all of those who have participated with our Twitter polls as it is always great to interact with our listeners. 

The last few weeks have been filled with blockbuster announcements across Sorare Football and Sorare NBA. We have focused the podcast around these developments with the intention to keep you informed of the latest goings during the baseball offseason. Now that the news has subsided, it is time to get back on track with a dedicated baseball episode!

Understanding the Sorare MLB matrix is one of the critical aspects of the game. On today's episode we break down which stats matter and the player profiles that most complement the matrix. There has been lots of news and excitement for Sorare NBA and Football over the past few weeks with the Premier League's arrival to Sorare kicking off the week with a bang. The boys share their thoughts on the league itself, players we like, and how we are approaching the draft to ensure we have the best squad possible for the rest of the season.

We finish the episode with our favorite game, Who Are Ya? as we try to name a specific player from the Premier League. Will we prevail and identify the player or be left ghosted and confused? Listen now to find out. 

Phew, Episode 22 has been recorded and completed with the boys recording a day early this week due to busy schedules. No matter how crazy thing get, we are dedicated to creating quality content for our fans and will make accommodations to make sure this podcast goes out in a timely manner. 

The boys have had success (or luck) with Sorare NBA over the past few gameweeks. Andrew and Jacob each placed in the top 50 last weekend earning them a T2 card. The main topic for this weeks episode involves our approach to roster construction for the upcoming capped mode competitions. Cap Mode 240 presents managers a unique opportunity to play a variety of lineups such as 4 outfield players with no keeper or 5 total players including a goalkeeper. We do not have to tell you how expensive goalkeepers can be. Thus, if you can play capped 240 without one, it represents an opportunity for managers on a budget to grind thresholds post gameplay update. Do not worry if this makes your head spin as we have the answer for YOU on today's podcast.

Our podcast is now legally allowed to drink in the US which means we have a fun one for you all this week. This was a huge week for Sorare Football as the team outlined their plans for the sport in 2023. We saw a whole host of new game modes unveiled including league specific competitions for La Liga, Seria A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1. Not stopping there, Sorare announced a series of capped competitions at each scarcity which award different scarcities allowing users to progress up the ladder to higher divisions. It seems like the community consensus around the updated can be summed up with confusion as it takes a master cartographer to unpack the true message from the team ( National Treasure anyone? )

We are bringing back the fun on the podcast as the boys play "Guess the Club" which challenges you to identify the club in question using the prompts the game returns like how far away the club is from where you guessed. For example England is 1000km west of Sweden.

Episode 20 may be one of our best yet as things get heated right away. We did away with the pleasantries and jumped straight into how to measure your Sorare skills as a manager. Thankfully, we settle the discussion so you will have to listen to hear where we landed. Jacob finished 3rd in our latest Panini pack challenge despite none of us winning cards with our pack lineups. Look out for the Twitter Poll this weekend and vote on who Jacob should play in his lineup.

The featured topic for this show was how to manage your gallery across Sorare sports. There are a lot of emerging strategies on how best to play each sport but they assume that managers are only optimizing for or playing that sport. As budget managers, we understand that simply depositing more money into the game is not always possible and that this game of resource allocation happens not just within sports but across them. We share our strategies and a budget target if you are trying to field a team across all 3 and even give our insight into which sport we would recommend to managers if they can only afford to play one. 

Sorare's second multi-week competition has arrived and allows managers to pick players from La Liga in both a weekly and season long format. The competiton is in beta and is expected to span a couple of gameweeks. Jacob shares his hot take that this is a draft to work out the bugs before eventually rolling this out for the Premier League!!!

A short and sweet episode this week as we kick off 2023 with a morning podcast. Andrew's trip to Milwaukee led us to switch from our usual recording to an early morning special between work calls and other responsibilities.

Andrew, Jacob, and Josh share their thoughts on Scouting Mission #2 which wrapped up this week. Managers were asked to obtain 10 of 20 eligible players who represented the highest scorer each game week. If successful, they then received a Tier 2 Limited card of a random player.
