This Tennessee Titans run is not sustainable. Ryan Tannehill is averaging 9.2 yards an attempt. Derrick Henry is averaging 7.92 yards a carry in the third quarter. Their redzone touchdown rate is 79.5% with Tannehill at quarterback, and more specifically, they've scored 31 touchdowns, kicked 1 field goal, turned it over 3 times, and have 4 drives that ended because of the clock. They're second in second half offense DVOA. This has to end. It can't go on forever. This is black magic, death eating sorcery, some diabolical apothecaric brew. The warlocks are drinking margaritas in the Logan's Roadhouse and it's not even happy hour. Oh, and the Chiefs are 7-0 since losing 35-32 to the Titans back in week 10.

The Packers are the worst playoff team remaining. They are 12th in weighted DVOA. The 49ers are 5th. San Francisco has an advantage at every position except quarterback, and the Packers will need Aaron Rodgers to be as good as Russell Wilson in this game, something that hasn't happened since like 2011.

It's the 2019 Conference Championships. It's the NFC and AFC Championship previews. It's Titans v. Chiefs. It's Packers v. 49ers.

Let me see here...the Houston Texans went up 24 to.....hmmmmmmm...0? That's strange. 24-0. Yep. I guess that's right. They went up 24-0 against the Kansas City Chiefs. And then they, no, there's no way, gave up 41....41!...points in a row. That can't be possible. This has to be some sort of horrendous afterlife. I don't believe it. Wake me up. Wake me up inside.

A mystical experience must meet two qualities. It must be ineffable and have a noetic quality. Mystical experiences also tend to be transient and passive, but these aren't requirements. Deshaun Watson's spin out dump off to Taiwan Jones met all four of those qualities. It wasn't beautiful or spectacular or unbelievable. It’s the last week of the 2019 NFL regular season. These are the last games of the decade. A few years ago a read a book this time of year called Young Once. It was a french novel about a man revisiting the set of circumstances he met his wife in. It was ok. The title was better than the book itself. Yet, whenever nice round numbers of time come to an end, I can see and hear the title in my head. Young Once. Ahh, yes, that was us this past summer and now it has all come to an end. Young Once. That was us at the beginning of this decade and now it has all come to an end.

It’s Week Seventeen of the NFL season. In this episode, Matt and Taylor remind Bill O’Brien the Texans have almost nothing to play for this Sunday and that the NFL Playoffs would be better with the Tennessee Titans, revisit last week’s melancholic Dallas loss and look down at their still beating heart, count up what maybe an insurmountable batch of Seattle injuries, and briefly talk about the Steelers’ last hope and mainly talk about the art we enjoyed consuming this decade.

The Buccaneers are the NFL equivalent of a hallucinogenic experience. A holographic sheen covers all things: deep passes, missed open receivers, turnovers, so many turnovers, big blitzes, receivers running uncovered downfield except against the Houston Texans, silly rush attempts in short yardage situations, and it all, of course, coming down to a final possession. After embarking on a game against the Buccaneers the opponent may have epiphanies, come to realizations, and gain a deeper understanding of those things that have been eluding them. What was once a bowl of spaghetti pushed across the table of time, is now untangled, straight, clear and concise.
