Attention, BART passengers: Depending on your station, you may pay a little more or a little less for parking starting today. KCBS Radio reporter Matt Bigler joins us from the West Oakland BART station to explain.
For the past couple of weeks, BART has been piloting 7-foot-high fare gates at West Oakland Station. Now the agency is announcing the next station to get new gates will be Civic Center station in San Francisco. KCBS Radio's Raquel Maria Dillon reports most riders say the rollout has been going smoothly.
It has been a wild week in the Sierra, where there were two avalanches in two days at two adjoining ski areas: the latest at Alpine Meadows yesterday, and the deadly slide at Palisades Tahoe on Wednesday. Avalanches inside the boundaries of commercial ski areas are rare, and to have them back-to-back like this is rarer still. KCBS Radio reporter Jeffrey Schaub says ski professionals are trying to understand how this could happen.
