Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao says she will NOT be choosing LeRonne Armstrong to be the city's police chief, despite calls from many in the community for the former chief to be reappointed.

President Biden is expected to head to Israel tomorrow in a show of support and solidarity amid the war with Hamas.

In other news; in a major development, California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced the Department of Justice has entered into an agreement with the City of Vallejo and its police department to address major police reforms. As we've been reporting, three people were killed in separate shootings in Oakland over the weekend, bringing the city's homicide rate to 100. UC Berkeley is launching a major development in Silicon Valley, at NASA's Ames Research Center.

Back in the fall of 1978, San Francisco's LGBTQ icon Harvey Milk debated a conservative Orange County state senator at a school gym in Walnut Creek. Former State Senator John Briggs was pushing for an initiative that would've prohibited LGTBQ-plus teachers and anyone who supported them from working in public schools across the state. Milk won the debate, but it was one of his last public appearances before he was assassinated. Fast forward to today,  Northgate High is commemorating that debate by dedicating a plaque in the gym as a reminder of the event that took place there. A ceremony will be taking place at 6 pm at the school gym to honor the plaque.
