Data shows that where you live can have a big impact on how long you live.

Researchers have found that things like air quality, street safety, green spaces, and noise pollution all have impacts on our health and that places where these things are more of an issue tend to be disproportionately inhabited by people of color.

For a closer look, KCBS Radio's Margie Shafer and Eric Thomas spoke with Catherine Brinkley, Faculty Director of the Center for Regional Change at UC Davis, which focuses on building healthy, equitable, prosperous and sustainable regions in California.

The Biden administration has released a list of 10 expensive prescription drugs that will be eligible for price negotiations with pharmaceutical companies as part of a long-standing battle to lower the costs of Medicare drugs.

The news is welcome for the millions on Medicare and comes at the ire of drug manufacturers, which say that the negotiations will make it harder for the companies to invest in more research and development.

Elon Musk is taking legal aim at one giant California law firm representing homeless people involved in a battle against San Francisco's efforts to clear encampments.

A series of fights broke yesterday evening as Emeryville's Bay Street Mall was swarmed by teenagers, police had to call for help from neighboring cities. It’s not unusual for first responders to deal with anxiety and mental health issues after years on the job, a number of local firefighters are traveling for psychedelic journeys. It’s about diverting kids from making poor choices -a push to get kids into sports earlier.

A hearing today aims to get a date nailed down to start the trial for one of former President Donald Trump's four ongoing criminal cases with the judge in Washington expected to consider his many legal obligations as well as an ongoing presidential campaign. Meanwhile, a judge in Atlanta will be holding a different hearing to determine weather or not one of Trump's co-defendants, Mark Meadows can move his case to federal court.
