  • Fifa ordered to explain World Cup ticket pricing | BBC News
Fifa must answer questions after allegations of "artificially inflating prices" and "misleading fans" over the sale of tickets for the 2026 World Cup.
It comes as the attorneys general of New York and New Jersey officially launched an investigation into Fifa's practices.
Fans have reported they were "misled" about the location of seats, including through the creation of more expensive 'front' category tickets released after the initial sales.
The investigation will consider how the ticket release schedule and public statements may have impacted prices.
    Fifa has declined to comment.

  • Iran TV obtains 'initial unofficial' draft of US deal | BBC News
US President Donald Trump has said he is "not satisfied" yet with the terms of the deal being negotiated with Iran.
Iranian state TV reported what it said were details of a draft agreement, which included reopening the Strait of Hormuz and the withdrawal of US forces from the region.
The White House branded the text a "complete fabrication".
The Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for large parts of southern Lebanon, declaring the areas "combat zones" ahead of fresh strikes against Hezbollah.
Household energy prices will rise by 13% a year in July, in the UK, as soaring wholesale costs caused by the US-Israel war with Iran hit bills for the first time.

  • Energy bills to rise for millions as impact of Iran war hits | BBC News
Household energy prices in England, Scotland and Wales will rise by 13% a year in July, as soaring wholesale costs caused by the US-Israel war with Iran hit bills for the first time.
Regulator Ofgem says the war means a household using a typical amount of gas and electricity will pay £221 more a year, with an annual bill of £1,862.
The cap affects millions of homes on variable tariffs and suppliers are warning it could go even higher in the colder winter months without an end to the conflict.
Energy costs have rocketed since Iran responded to US and Israeli attacks by effectively blocking the crucial Strait of Hormuz shipping route - a fifth of the world's oil and gas usually flows through the waterway.

  • Is Trump's grip on Republicans bad for the party? | Global News Podcast
Donald Trump is exerting his grip on the Republican party ahead of this year's midterm elections, analysts say. This week, with the help of an endorsement from the president, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton easily defeated Senator John Cornyn in a primary vote, to decide who will represent the GOP in November.
President Trump has campaigned against at least three Republican incumbents, including Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie and Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy - both of whom also lost their primaries.
Our Washington correspondent Daniel Bush tells us that President Trump uses his endorsements to reward loyalty and punish dissent. But how could that strategy affect the party's chances against the Democrats in the 2026 midterms - and beyond?
