  • What comes next inside Iran? | Global News Podcast
President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have indicated that an objective of the US-Israel war with Iran is regime change. But is that possible? What will happen in Tehran now that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead? Will we see regime change? Or a changed regime?
We speak to the BBC's chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet, who has covered Iran for years and is one of the few Western journalists to report from inside the country in recent months.

  • President Donald Trump says US took 'last best chance' to hit Iran | BBC News
US President Donald Trump has said he took the decision to launch a war against Iran because it was the "last, best chance" to stop the country's regime.
In his first live remarks since US strikes on Iran, the president said the US military is continuing to carry out “large-scale combat operations”.
The US and Israel struck Iran on Saturday, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Israeli military has since launched new strikes on Tehran, but the US defense secretary said that the operation against Iran will not lead to an "endless war".
Earlier, new Iranian strikes were reported on a major gas plant in Qatar, where the Ministry of Defence later said it had shot down two Iranian aircraft, seven missiles and five drones.

  • US-Israel war with Iran: what happens next? | The Global Story
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who ruled Iran for more than 30 years, was killed over the weekend in joint US-Israeli strikes.
