  • US Congress votes to send Jeffrey Epstein files bill to Donald Trump | BBC News
Both chambers of US Congress have agreed to order the US justice department to release its files on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the measure in a 427-1 vote. The Senate said it would pass the bill before it officially received it.
US President Donald Trump must ultimately sign-off the measure, which he has said he will do. He recently reversed his position and urged fellow Republicans to vote to disclose the records, following pushback from many of his supporters.

  • Nicki Minaj supports contested Trump claim Christians being persecuted in Nigeria | BBC News
Nicki Minaj has publicly backed US President Donald Trump's allegations that Christians face persecution in Nigeria.
"In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted," Minaj said on Tuesday at an event organised by the US, adding: "Churches have been burned, families have been torn apart... simply because of how they pray."
Analysts say that jihadists and other armed groups have waged campaigns of violence that affect all communities in the West African nation, regardless of background or belief.
This week alone, two people were killed in an attack on a church in Kwara, while a group of 25 girls, who the BBC has been told are Muslim, were abducted from a school.

  • Google CEO on the AI bubble and economic risks | BBC Newscast
Today, the CEO of Google gives a rare interview to discuss AI, economic risk, climate change and much more.
BBC economics editor Faisal Islam has been speaking to Sundar Pichai, the head of Google’s parent company Alphabet, about the future of the AI bubble.
The tech boss warned that “no company is going to be immune” if the AI bubble bursts after its current period of boom. This comes as some analysts expressed fear that stock markets are heading for a repeat of the dotcom bubble burst of the late 1990s.
They also discussed the environmental cost of powering AI, the potential risks to jobs and whether the UK will benefit from the current boom. BBC economics editor Faisal Islam joins Adam in the studio.

  • Google boss says trillion-dollar AI investment boom has 'elements of irrationality' | BBC News
Every company would be affected if the AI bubble were to burst, the head of Google's parent firm Alphabet has told the BBC.
Speaking exclusively to BBC News, Sundar Pichai said while the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) investment had been an "extraordinary moment", there was some "irrationality" in the current AI boom.
It comes amid fears in Silicon Valley and beyond of a bubble as the value of AI tech companies has soared in recent months and companies spend big on the burgeoning industry.
Asked whether Google would be immune to the impact of the AI bubble bursting, Mr Pichai said the tech giant could weather that potential storm, but also issued a warning.
"I think no company is going to be immune, including us," he said.
