Migrant sex offender Hadush Kebatu has been arrested in the Finsbury Park area of London after a two-day manhunt.
Kebatu had been mistakenly released on Friday from HMP Chelmsford, where he was serving a 12-month sentence for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and a woman in Epping, Essex.
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer says Kebatu "will be deported" and Justice Secretary David Lammy has ordered a full investigation into Friday's release.
London's Met Police Commander James Conway says "information from the public" helped officers locate Kebatu earlier this morning.

  • What medical experts have said about Donald Trump’s Tylenol claims | BBC News
US President Donald Trump has attracted condemnation from health experts, after he sought to claim that there was a link between the widely used painkiller Tylenol - also known as paracetamol - and autism.
Accompanied by his Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, Trump said that doctors would soon be advised not to prescribe the drug to pregnant women.
The claims have been attacked by medical experts.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists said the announcement was "unsettling" and not based on "reliable data", while the UK's National Autism Society called Trump's statement "dangerous, it's anti-science and it's irresponsible".

  • Jaguar Land Rover extends shutdown after cyber-attack | BBC News
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has confirmed that production in its factories will remain suspended until next month at the earliest, as it continues to deal with the fallout from a cyber-attack in August.
The UK business secretary and industry minister are visiting the West Midlands for the first time since the cyber-attack to meet JLR and firms in its supply chain.
The company has been unable to produce cars since the attack at the end of August forced it to shut down its IT networks, and fears are growing that some of its suppliers could go bust without support.
JLR has confirmed that its factories - including its UK facilities in Solihull, Halewood and Wolverhampton - won't resume operations until at least 1 October.

  • Trump makes unproven link between autism and Tylenol | BBC News
Donald Trump has urged pregnant women not to take the painkiller paracetamol - known as Tylenol in the US - because of an unproven link to autism.
The US president said that doctors will soon be advised not to prescribe it, and that pregnant women should "fight like hell" to only take it in cases of extreme fever.
Medical experts have strongly pushed back on the claims, with some calling the president's comments dangerous.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists disputed the link made by Trump in the Oval Office, saying the claim "is not backed by the full body of scientific evidence and dangerously simplifies the many and complex causes of neurologic challenges in children".
Health officials in the UK have stressed that paracetamol remains the safest painkiller available to pregnant women.

  • France formally recognises Palestinian state | BBC News
French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed his government will formally recognise a Palestinian state, joining a wave of countries to do so in recent weeks.
Before his announcement, Macron told the UN the time has come to stop the war in Gaza and free the remaining 48 hostages detained by Hamas.
Macron condemned the 7 October attacks and said he wants to see peace in the region created by having two states living side-by-side.
He added the world is just a few moments away from no longer being able to seize peace, and adds: "We can no longer wait."
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said recognition gives "a huge reward to terrorism", and that a Palestinian state "will not happen".
