  • Almost a third of people in Gaza not eating for days, UN says | BBC News
The UN has said nearly one-in-three people in Gaza is not eating for days at a time, warning that 90,000 women and children are in urgent need of treatment.
Earlier this year, Israel temporarily blocked the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza. It then backed a new mechanism for the distribution of supplies, through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
Since its implementation, more than a thousand Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid, according to the UN, which has described the system as a death trap.
In an interview with the BBC, a whistle blower who quit the GHF said he had witnessed indiscriminate brutality against desperate civilians, calling the incidents possible war crimes.

  • Cambodia calls for immediate ceasefire with Thailand as death toll rises | BBC News
Cambodia has called for an "immediate" ceasefire with Thailand, as the two countries have seen more than 30 people killed, including civilians, in the ongoing border clashes.
Cambodia's ambassador to the UN, Chhea Keo, said his country asked for a truce "unconditionally", adding that Phnom Penh also wanted a "peaceful solution of the dispute".
Thailand has not publicly commented on the proposal, while rejecting third-party mediation. It earlier declared martial law in eight districts bordering Cambodia.
At least 32 people - soldiers and civilians - have been killed and nearly 200,000 displaced in the two Southeast Asian countries, who accuse each other of firing the first shots on Thursday.

  • Former US Green Beret says Israel committed war crimes at Gaza food distribution site | BBC News
A former US veteran who was employed at a food distribution site in Gaza has accused members of the Israel Defence Forces and American colleagues of deliberately targeting and killing unarmed Palestinian civilians.
Lieutenant-Colonel Anthony Aguilar, a former special forces veteran, was recruited to work for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a joint Israeli-US scheme replacing the United Nations food distribution operation in Gaza.
He has told the BBC he witnessed the IDF shooting at the crowds of Palestinians, firing a main tank round into a car carrying civilians and firing mortars at crowds of hungry people waiting for food.
Mr Aguilar told the BBC: “In my entire career I have never witnessed the level of brutality and use of indiscriminate and unnecessary force against a civilian population, an unarmed starving population. I’ve never witnessed that in all the places I’ve been deployed to war, until I was in Gaza at the hands of the IDF and US contractors... Without question I witnessed war crimes by the Israeli Defence Forces, without a doubt. Using artillery rounds, mortar rounds, tank rounds into unarmed civilians is a war crime.”
The United Nations says hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in Gaza while seeking food at the aid distribution points run by the GHF.
Israel insists its forces have not targeted civilians, that it targets Hamas and that its use of force in Gaza is proportionate.
It comes as Israel faces international condemnation over the lack of food supplies reaching civilians in Gaza, with the UN and aid agencies reporting that people are dying of starvation.

  • Warnings of malnutrition in Gaza as Donald Trump says Hamas won’t agree ceasefire | BBC News
Nine more people in Gaza have died of malnutrition in the last 24 hours, which brings the total number of deaths to 122, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières says its teams are "witnessing catastrophic levels of malnutrition”, with one in four young children and pregnant women malnourished.
In response, Israel says it will allow foreign aid drops into Gaza over the next few days - but humanitarian organisations have previously warned they don't get nearly enough supplies to people.
Despite the situation, US President Donald Trump has said that Hamas does not want to make a deal to release hostages and agree a ceasefire.

  • At least 73 Palestinians killed in Gaza waiting for aid says Hamas-run health ministry | BBC News
At least 73 Palestinians are reported to have been shot dead by Israeli forces in Gaza on Sunday while waiting for food aid, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry.
It reported that Israeli soldiers killed at least 67 people in one incident when they opened fire on people waiting for UN aid lorries delivering food in northern Gaza, where people are reported to be starving.
The UN World Food Programme said its 25-truck convoy "encountered massive crowds of hungry civilians which came under gunfire", soon after crossing from Israel and clearing checkpoints.
The Israel Defence Forces said that they had "fired warning shots" to remove what they described as "an immediate threat" and disputed the number of reported deaths.
