  • US President Donald Trump hosts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at White House | BBC News
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with President Donald Trump in Washington DC for their first in-person talks since US airstrikes on Iran began in February.

And elsewhere, Oman has reportedly proposed a regional system for managing the Strait of Hormuz, following technical talks with Tehran.

  • Are apprenticeships the answer to the UK's high youth unemployment? | BBC Newscast
Today, secondary school pupils in England will be offered more technical subjects as part of education reforms led by the new prime minister.
The courses, which will be available from year 10 onwards will be linked to local industries in the hope of giving children a clearer pathway into work.
Andy Burnham says he’s keen to strengthen links between education and the workplace and these reforms come alongside a new bursary scheme which aims to remove financial barriers to accessing apprenticeships.
Adam discusses the reforms, and whether they can achieve their aims, with Justine Greening, the former education secretary and founder of the Purpose Coalition which aims to improve social mobility, and Shane Chowen, editor at FE Week.
Plus, Adam catches up with By-Electioncast veterans Sarah Lester, editor of the Manchester Evening News and Kevin Fitzpatrick, political reporter at Radio Manchester to discuss the Manchester mayoral by-election, which goes to the polls on Thursday.

Laura Loomer, an ally of US President Donald Trump and a MAGA influencer, has visited Ukraine, where she was granted extensive access to the destruction caused by the war.

But after visiting the country she said she had fallen for some "Russian propaganda" and offered an apology to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
It comes as the White House says Trump has held “positive and productive” meetings with both Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in separate behind-closed-doors meetings.

  • Are US Democrats turning against Israel? | Global News Podcast
We ask the BBC's Washington correspondent Bernd Debusmann how the Democrats have changed their attitude towards Israel in light of the war in Gaza, and the conflict in Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been meeting President Donald Trump in Washington, at a tense time for US-Israel relations. Though they entered the war with Iran as partners, President Trump has publicly criticised Israel over its handling of the conflict - even calling Mr Netanyahu "crazy" in a phone call about Israel's fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, more than 100 House Democrats recently voted to cut military aid to Israel. And some of the parties top figures - including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senator Cory Booker have promised not to accept any money from the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC.
Bernd tells us that in the wake of the Gaza war, a new generation of politicians, like New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, have come to represent many young American voters' growing frustration with the Israeli government.

  • The US-Saudi nuclear deal explained | The Global Story
When the Trump administration announced last week that it had signed a nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia, the agreement was held up by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright as evidence that ”the American nuclear renaissance is underway”.
Although the text of the deal has not yet been made public, US media report that it could allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium in the future. But shortly after the announcement, President Trump took to Truth Social to qualify the news – saying that the deal hinges on Saudi Arabia’s willingness to recognise the state of Israel.
Is that likely? And could the deal derail ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran? We speak to BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner.
