We discussed the BLM movement and whether NBA players should suit up, a tragic event that took the life off 22 year old  Jamal Williams at Munster Community Hospital in Northwest Indiana and how far he has come from his troubled youth to being a proud Union working father of two. Right after Father’s Day, Derien Downing and Kenny Becket joined the podcast to reflect on the past two months. Both are college educated, hard working guys that shared their insight on growing up black, living in mixed race families, and their experiences with how they are perceived by white AND other black people.

Today we welcomed Nitasha Savani, aka JetLaggedJalebi, to the show. She has organically earned 7000+ followers and counting on her food, travel and life focused Instagram page. We spoke about her growth,  inspirations, challenges and incredibly supportive following. Then her husband, Dr. Ravi made a surprise appearance to talk about the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and give his thoughts on this weeks big dumb head ass nominees.

All jokes aside we get his perspective on reopening America, the global protests, Candace Owens and more. 

This episode was recorded just prior to the George Floyd protests. In the episode we discuss our mindsets just after seeing the video and awaiting MN response to it. (The BLM conversation starts at 51:00) In February, we started a conversation around black culture. In less than three months since BHM we saw the lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Sean Reed and George Floyd prematurely ended, not to mention other murders and brutalities that weren’t caught on tape. We also just saw Amy Cooper embody when covert racism turns overt. Rebkah Zellelew returned last week to discuss these topics and much more! 

States are slowly starting to open up after a couple months of quarantine. That’s cool but it feels like people are very much on edge. Everyone seems to have a theory on what led to this whole situation, some are wild and others are pretty thought provoking. We talked about a few of the more popular conspiracy theories out there. Are conspiracy theorists finally getting the credibility they’ve been looking for all these years?

In case y’all missed it, we had our first Facebook Live episode last Sunday. Shout out to everyone that jumped in and kicked it with us! Joining us was “Keep Pushing Kicks”, a sneaker YouTuber that’s building quite the following. We talk about sneaker game today, tips on picking up limited releases, best collaborations out, our favorite kicks growing up, his motto “keep pushing” and more. This was a dope episode for anyone interested in the sneaker culture!

With America slowly reopening and everyone trying to navigate the new “normal,” the Big Dumb Head A** Podcast reflects on what has gotten us through quarantine so far. We also highlight some crazy stories that caught their attention from this past week.
