In this episode, I share my experiences with facing uncertainty in my practice and we discuss how to navigate this challenging space to reap the rich opportunities that it presents!
We'll discuss the fact that uncertainty is all around us, how we often cope with uncertainty, the downsides of intolerance of uncertainty, why we push it away, and how to make uncertainty our ally rather than our enemy.
Join me to unlock the mysteries of uncertainty!

In this episode, we're going to talk about a deep concept that I've discovered fairly recently that has transformed the way that I approach patient care: The Roles We Play.
We'll discuss how to make sense of roles, some problems with the roles that we play, and how to skillfully navigate these roles so that we can truly help people while having more fun and being less burned out.

In this episode, we're talking beliefs. My beliefs specifically. When I was going through fellowship, I started the practice of writing down my beliefs as they became known to me, and updating them as I saw fit. In this episode, we'll discuss some of my former beliefs, how they led me astray, and my updates that better reflect the truth as I see it.

"If a friend talked to you the way that you talk to you, would you still be friends with them?"
In this episode, we're talking self-compassion. We'll discuss what self-compassion is (& what it isn't), why it's important & how it relates to patient care, and simple practices that you can implement to boost your own self-compassion.

"We make assumptions & predictions. This is the nature of the human mind. Bias is not the enemy. Ignorance of our nature is the enemy. Awareness is the solution."
In this episode, we'll start out by talking about what clinical reasoning is; we'll of course get into why it's important; but we'll spend the bulk of the time discussing how we can improve our clinical reasoning skills, discussing strategies & techniques for improving these skills along the way.

In this episode, I discuss the simple treatment framework that changed everything for me: the Test-Retest Model. In this episode, we'll discuss some of the questions & problems that we run into when it comes to treatment, ways that the test-retest model can help us answer these questions, what the test-retest model actually looks like in practice, some barriers to implementation, and situations in which the model might require adjustment.

In this episode, I discuss Law IV of the Four Laws of Quality Care. Law IV states: Provide matched interventions, considering the person's values and perspectives, while keeping in mind contextual effects. In this episode, we'll discuss practical ways of developing laser-precision in our practice by effectively matching the interventions we provide with the patient's life and their symptom irritability. I also discuss how contextual effects fit into the evidence-based practice model, and how some of the best advice I've ever heard for PTs is, "Just don't be an asshole."

In this episode, I discuss Law III of the Four Laws of Quality Care. Law III states: Help them make sense of their problem. In this episode, we'll discuss the importance of helping people make sense of their problem, things that get in the way of effectively educating our patients, ways of overcoming these barriers, and how to do all of this within a patient-centered care model. I also talk about beliefs and offer a nuanced way to approach the concept of changing people's beliefs.
