In this episode I will talk about how an athletic department and a community can help each other build a better line of communication with the other. This line of communication is often the hardest, but when our community is able to communicate with the athletic department. An amazing foundation is built for all of our student-athletes. Which should all be our goal.

Fluvanna head volleyball coach Christi Harlowe sits down with me, Jason Barnett. We have a chance to talk about some of the things that have brought her programs so much success through so many years. She talks about some of the core values that her program holds from the middle school program through their varsity program. How to prepare for an upcoming season, and when she starts preparing for a new year. Also, she gives us a little insight to what it is like to coach with your husband, and coach both of your daughters all in the same program.

Head football coach, Mitchell Pace visited with me to talk about how things are going now that he is a little over midway through his first year as head football coach. Coach Pace talks about the transition through the year, and the parts of this position that have surprised him. As well as what he looks forward to for the rest of the year. He also recognizes the powerful impact that parental support/communication has played in his first year as head coach. One of the more difficult lines of communication is between coaches and parents. In part 2 of our 3 part series, I will discuss some of the do's and don'ts for both coaches and parents. Hopefully, we can help build better lines of communication between two groups that are both looking out for the best interest of our student-athletes.

Isabelle Garrett, Rebekah Kraft, and Logan Marchant speak with me about the purpose of our Fluco Club and events they have planned to reach out to the community. We also get a chance to ask them about some of the things they will remember most about being a part of our Fluvanna Athletic community during their time here.

The positive things she has seen so far this year with so many positive starts to our athletic teams and activities. Jason Barnett sits down and talks with head field hockey coach Jenny Payne to talk about the upcoming field hockey season. We also talk about the benefits of being the head varsity coach that also coaches the JV program as well and how that has helped the field hockey program grow.

Discuss how he evaluates athletes for injuries and ways to help get them back to the playing fields quicker. We also get into proper hydration and a parent's role when their child is hurt.
