Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:59
Magic in the Woods Excerpt:
“Why are you putting snacks on a stump?” asked Billy.

Dragon has an epic idea to hold a game event for Ahway Island! How will it come together?
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:33
Dragon’s Epic Idea Excerpt:
Dragon nodded. It sounded like a fun thing to watch and possibly to participate in. But these Olympic Games weren’t being held on Ahway Island, and they probably were for humans only, so there would be no way for the creatures on Ahway Island to watch or participate. Unless….
Dragon had a thought. It was more than a thought, really. It was an idea… an epic idea, in fact. They could have their own games competition on Ahway Island, and creatures from all over the island could compete in events that reflect the skills they have practiced for a very long time. Anyone who did not want to compete could be a spectator and enjoy watching the action.

Gerry Robin and Bert Bluejay take shelter during a thunderstorm.
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 4:05
Storm Safety Excerpt:
Gerry nodded and took a bite of a berry herself. With the storm closing in, there was no time for small talk. The two birds sat side by side, eating the delicious berries until a boom of thunder rumbled in the distance. Gerry looked towards the clouds. “The storm is almost here,” she noted.
“Yes,” Bert agreed before taking another bite of a berry. Gerry, too, continued to eat. Another crack of thunder exploded in the distance, then a streak of lightning flashed across the sky. Both birds looked up for a moment, then ducked back down to continue to eat.

Lisa tries using her “other hand” all day long, and discovers that practicing tricky new things can help her brain grow stronger!
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 4:45
The Other Hand Excerpt:
It was a regular Saturday on Ahway Island, right around lunchtime. In the town, in a little house, Lisa munched on her sandwich thoughtfully. Last night at dinner, Lisa listened to her parents and grandparents talking. Her grandmother mentioned that it is good for your brain to do activities with your non-dominant hand.
At the time, it sounded interesting, and she wanted to try it. But she didn’t quite understand what it meant to “do things with your non-dominant hand.”

Alice goes to the park and meets a new friend, Anora, who shows her how to have a great time playing on the jungle gym!
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 3:39
Jungle Gym Joy Excerpt:
The sun was shining brightly on the twisty slide, and Alice decided she would play there first. Alice ran over to the slide, quickly moving up the steps. As she reached the top, Alice realized another girl was already there at the top. The other girl smiled and waved, giggling as she slid down the slide. Alice waited for the girl to reach the bottom and then she too slid down the slide, giggling as she went. Whee!
Alice reached the bottom and hopped off the slide, but there was no sign of the little girl. Where did she go? Then Alice heard a giggle. She turned around and saw the little girl peeking from around the corner of the jungle gym. Alice decided to introduce herself.

On a nighttime visit to the garden, Rob finds discovers a strange human by the sharing basket and decides to investigate further.
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:20
Straw Surprise Excerpt:
Along the edge of the forest, Rob Raccoon walked quietly by himself. His two best friends, Rebel and Riley Raccoon, were nowhere to be found. They’d all napped down by the creek during the late afternoon, but when Rob woke up, he found that his friends were gone. It was strange because the trio were usually inseparable. Rob figured they would turn up soon. Still, he wanted to know what they were doing. Probably something interesting.
Rob had spent the last couple of hours looking in all their favorite spots for his friends. He’d checked the other side of the point by the lily pads where they liked to hang out and drink water. He also checked the berry patch where they enjoyed eating berries. He checked the hollow tree log they often slept in. Rob had even checked Dragon’s cave, to see if they’d gone to visit Dragon.

Daisy Beagle catches a new scent on the breeze and follows it through the Ahway Island Forest. What will the curious dog find?
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:40
Cave Courtesy Excerpt:
Soon, the sweet scent drifted to the right, off the main trail. Now, the smell had changed again. A warm vanilla scent had added to the rose and orange layers. The combined scents wafting on the breeze evoked a feeling of someplace warm and caring to the little dog. Daisy slowed at the edge of the path and peeked between two bushes. There were a lot of trees in that direction, but she really wanted to find this interesting smell.

Javier tries to give his mom a birthday surprise but things get a little bit messy.
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 3:43
Birthday Surprise Excerpt:
It was a sunny autumn morning on Ahway Island, and Javier was sitting at the kitchen table, enjoying cereal for breakfast. He was really excited. Today was his mom’s birthday! Javier’s mom had left very early in the morning to go to work at the hospital. Javier loved his mom so much. She was always working hard to make sure that people on Ahway Island were happy and healthy. To celebrate her birthday, Javier wanted to do something special for her. As he finished his cereal, a brilliant idea popped into his head.
“I know!” he thought. “I’ll blow up some balloons!” Javier had always loved the colorful balloons his mom gave him on his birthday and other special occasions. And if it was hot enough outside, Javier and his mom would fill up water balloons!

Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 3:44
Sanctuary Safari Excerpt:
It was a big day. Lydia had never been on a train before. They were going to take the train to visit the Ahway Island Animal Sanctuary. Lydia had never been to the Sanctuary before, either. She loved animals and was eager to visit.
However, she was a little worried about the train ride. What if the train was really loud? What if it was crowded and there weren’t any seats left? What if they missed their stop? There were so many possibilities.

When Wallace the kitty arrives at the Ahway Island Animal Shelter feeling scare, friendly helpers show him a warm welcome.
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:56
Safe at the Shelter Excerpt:
Everything was bustling at the Ahway Island Animal Shelter. Volunteers were cleaning and spending time with available pets. Visitors were meeting animals, hoping to adopt new family members. The veterinarian, Dr. Bowski, was giving health checks to some new arrivals.
One new arrival was a senior kitty named Wallace. Wallace was 10 years old. His owner was no longer able to take care of him, and the soft, fluffy gray kitty needed a new home. Wallace was used to a quiet home and the goings on at the shelter were a bit overwhelming.
