Lexie and the other Lemmings create a fun obstacle course for their friends! Will they be able to complete it?
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 3:54
Lively Lemmings Excerpt:
It was a gorgeous afternoon in the Ahway Island forest. The sun shined brightly through the tree branches. The air was warm, but a cool, refreshing breeze swept through, bringing with it the fresh scent of lilacs. In spite of the beautiful day, Lexie Lemming found herself feeling a bit bored as she leaned against a rock.
Lexie stretched out her tiny paws and sighed. “What should we do today?” she wondered aloud.

Ellie the Excavator helps Constance Concrete Mixer and Drevan Dump Truck communicate better as they work on the train tunnel.
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:36
Tunnel Teamwork Excerpt:
In the early morning on Ahway Island, Ellie the excavator woke up in her cozy garage, ready for another day of work. As she awoke, she expected to see the warm sunlight spilling into her garage. Instead, she heard a familiar voice drifting through the walls. It was Constance the concrete mixer, and her voice sounded much louder than usual. The chatter had woken Ellie up just ahead of the sunrise. Ellie was curious to know what all the commotion was.
She didn’t have to wait too long to find out. Soon enough, her diver opened the garage door and drove Ellie out into the construction yard. As Ellie rumbled out of her garage, Ellie spotted Constance right away. She was chatting excitedly with Drevan the dump truck.

Joe helps out with his favorite chore: cleaning up leaves with the leaf blower!
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 8:54
Autumn Clean-Up Excerpt:
Sunlight spilled into the room, waking up Joe. He sighed and stretched. It was a Saturday morning in early autumn – Joe’s favorite time of the year! Those crisp, cool days, when the leaves fell down from the trees like multi-colored rain. Those chilly evenings when Joe could curl up with a book in front of a cozy fire.
Joe and his sister Theresa both had to help with chores around the house, and in the fall, Joe’s job was to help clean up the yard, especially by clearing up all the leaves on the lawn. But Joe didn’t mind. Actually, raking and blowing leaves was his favorite chore. He loved making big piles of leaves on the lawn and he always had fun using the big leaf blower.

Mildred Moray Eel tries to discover the source of a loud noise that scared her friends.
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:45
Moray Mission Excerpt:
It was a pleasant morning in the Ahway Island reef. Gentle sunlight filtered through the water, making the walls of Mildred Moray Eel’s cozy cave glow. Mildred stretched luxuriously. Her long, slender body curved gracefully as she made her way to the cave entrance. Mildred peered out from the opening. She sighed happily as she watched a school of vibrantly colored fish swim by in a joyful parade. Their scales shimmered in the sunlight, creating a dazzling underwater spectacle as the sea creatures laughed and played.
Suddenly, a loud rumbling noise shattered the joyful scene. A dark shadow passed by overhead, momentarily blocking the warm sunbeams. Startled, the little fish scattered in all directions, disappearing into the nooks and crannies of the reef. The playful parade had vanished in an instant.

Mike, Ian, and Anora build a boat to escape their pretend island adventure, learning that teamwork and listening to everyone’s ideas is the best way to succeed!
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:48
Rickety Raft Excerpt:
It was a sunny afternoon on Ahway Island. The rain had finally stopped, and the sky was a brilliant blue. The air was fresh, and the scent of blooming flowers filled the backyard of the Stein family home. The sun stretched across the lawn. Mike smiled as he looked out over the yard. This was perfect weather for playing outside, and his friends Ian and Anora were here to share it with him!
Inside the house, Mike’s dad was finishing up the dishes after a delicious lunch. He watched the kids through the kitchen window, smiling as he saw them gather in the backyard. Mike’s older sister, Rachael, was also outside, lounging on a lawn chair with her nose buried in a book.

Ballet Bunny practices her dancing and teaches Dragon how to turn and spin.
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 9:39
Dance Class Excerpt:
Ballet Bunny had just finished lunch in her den and was now cleaning up. The last few days had been rainy, so she felt grateful have a dry and cozy home. This morning the rain had finally stopped and now the sun was peeking out from behind the clouds. The wet spots on the ground outside were drying up, which meant she could practice her dancing outside today! It had been a few days since she had been able to practice outside and she was feeling a little restless. Her body needed to move!
Before going outside, Ballet Bunny took a few minutes to warm up her body before beginning to practice dancing. It was important to stretch before doing any strenuous dance moves, especially since she hadn’t danced in several days.

Dragon learns that their new friend Brent likes to wiggle, and creates a fun obstacle course!
Narrator: Female
Story Begins: 3:41
Wiggly Dragon Excerpt:
It was a warm day on Ahway Island. It was still quite early in the morning as the sun lazily climbed in the sky. Dragon was already out and about and on a mission. Dragon glided gracefully on an air current, flying above the forest on the way to town. Today was a special day, because Dragon was about to meet another new friend. Dragon loved making new friends, both human and animal.
Today Dragon was going to the park to meet Billy Parker, who was 7 years old, and Brent, Billy’s friend who just turned 6. Dragon already knew Billy. Dragon hadn’t met Brent before, but since Dragon was still young, Dragon hadn’t met lots of people on Ahway Island yet.

Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 4:14
Purrfect Pals Excerpt:
Crisp autumn air danced through the open windows of the cozy house on Ahway Island, carrying with it the light scent of fallen leaves. Every morning, Prince Grey woke up with a big yawn and a stretch, and immediately find his two people, whom he called Mom and Dad. He made sure both Mom and Dad gave him plenty of pets and attention before they all had breakfast in the kitchen.

Best friends, Baba Panda and NapNap Crocodile, make music together!
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 8:15
The Music Lesson Excerpt:
It was a fresh and beautiful morning. The birds sang happily in the trees, rejoicing in the crisp, cool morning air. It was one of those mornings that made you feel happy to be alive. That’s how Baba Panda felt, anyway. She had eaten her morning breakfast of bamboo with an extra amount of enjoyment. As she ate, she listened to the birds singing, enjoying their music. Baba didn’t know how to sing herself, but she loved to listen to other animals sing.
After breakfast, she wandered down to the stream. That was one of her favorite places, besides the bamboo forest, of course. Baba loved the stream for so many reasons. The stream always felt restful and cool, no matter how hot the weather might be. The water was fun to play in, and it tasted delicious to drink! The stream was full of little rocks and as the water splashed over them, it sounded almost like music. Baba loved music of all sorts. But her favorite thing about the stream was that her best friend lived there.

Peter thinks metaphors are silly, but he still appreciates learning about language.
Narrator: Male
Story Begins: 4:02
Mighty Metaphors Excerpt:
The fourth-graders chatted happily as they filed into the classroom, buzzing with excitement. Mid-morning sunlight filled the room, making the colorful posters and artwork lining the walls look even brighter. The students all found comfy spots at their desks, which were arranged in a big horseshoe shape. This way, everyone could see each other and their friends, which made it easy to share ideas and work together.
Miss Cho stood at the opening of the horseshoe and greeted the class with a warm smile. “Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going on an adventure in the land of language!” she said.
