“To ‘mask’ or to ‘camouflage’ means to hide or disguise parts of oneself in order to better fit in with those around you. It is an unconscious strategy all humans develop whilst growing up in order to connect with those around us.” -Dr Hannah Belcher. These are my reasons why I don't want people to feel sorry for me. https://beheardcommunications.com/the-problem-with-i-m-sorry
When receiving a neurodivergent diagnosis you can be overwhelming depending on the age of the child for the parent or for the individual themselves as an adult. We are told what we aren't good at or what we are deficient in. What if when an individual who gets diagnosed with a neurodivergent condition, that before we tell people what they are struggle with we give them a list/report of what they can do and do extremely well. #autsim #disability #disabilitypride #diagnosis #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #different #education
