The Second Sunday of Easter, designated by St. John Paul II as Divine Mercy Sunday is a day when the Church encourages to give thanks and to deepen our appreciation of divine mercy and how mercifully God relates to us. This is illustrated by Sunday's gospel which describes how Jesus helped the apostle Thomas over his unbelief and made an important act of faith. A great way for us to show our appreciation of God’s mercy is by our approaching the Sacrament of Penance with as deep sorrow as grace permits. A meditation by Fr Tom Dowd.
