Welcome to a brand-new year, and a brand-new kick-off to an exciting podcast season! Before we jump in to a new series (come back on Jan 21 for it!), we thought we'd first take a minute to catch you up on some life stuff. Sara has had a major life change in the past few months, and we wanted to give her a chance to share the news. (All good, no worries there.) Get yourself a cup of coffee and sit back and hear her heart. And then be sure to tune in on Monday for the start of our newest series, Be Thinkers!

Guys, it's the last podcast episode for 2018! We hope you've enjoyed this Be words series as much as we have. This final episode in the series encompasses the word Belong, and we dive into it in two parts: belonging to God, and belonging to each other. Listen in as we explore what each of these means to us as believers today! Listen on all #podcast apps or at bestillbefree.com/166!

“Victorious Christianity is not found in knowing a lot of theology, or manufacturing the right kind of feelings. It’s found in abiding in the presence of a Person.” (JD Greear) Not only did Jesus leave us with an advocate, helper and comforter in the Holy Spirit that would walk beside and within us, but He gave us the blueprint of how we should walk beside others. The most effective relationships are those done side-by-side. As we live out the gospel, there are times when we will go ahead and prepare the way, but those intimate relationships are done beside each other. If we walk ahead of those we lead and influence, we are pulling them or making them go at a pace they are not able to achieve. If we walk behind them, we are most likely either pushing them again at a pace they cannot achieve or we are not truly invested with them.

We get so rigid in our views of what Sabbath is and what it needs to look like. But what if we changed your mindset from Sabbath being a set day of the week to it being an intermission — a time for us to pause to catch our breath that can be any length of time God determines? The Sabbath is a GIFT from God for us to grab hold of and take, not a rigid and inflexible law. Listen in to this week’s #BeFreeFriday #podcast as Monica shares why we always take a Sabbath here at Be Still Be Free, and why we need one personally, especially this time of year!

Becoming is an active word that means entering into a new state or condition. Jesus took a slightly more intentional spin on the word by meaning, “become what you believe.” So the question we have to ask ourselves is – what are we believing? What we believe is what we become, and boy does that put some responsibility back on us!

Happy #BeFreeFriday y'all! This week we switched it up and did a video episode from the top of Kennesaw Mountain! Watch the video on Facebook or at bestillbefree.com/bff129. We chat about struggles and triumphs in 2018, and about plans and recipes for Thanksgiving (visit the blog for details!). It's a spontaneous, non-fancy episode we think you'll enjoy.

Suppose you were walking along a path and you came to a bridge which crossed a deep canyon. You might look at it and believe that it would hold you, and you might even see other people walking across it so you know it would hold your weight. But so far, your “belief” in the bridge is only in your head. When do you really believe the bridge will hold you? You only really believe it when you are willing to commit your life to it and actually walk across it.

In this week's #BeFreeFriday, Monica gets honest about a couple seemingly innocent questions that ended up exposing some things in her heart that God wanted to address. Maybe you can relate!

There’s a Because to all of our trials -- a reason that we go through what we go through. But what does the Bible say about Because? The reasons may be different than you think, and go deeper than you think!
