We are continuing our "You Can Rest" series with some special friends, Mindy Tobin and Jane Stephens. In a world that refuses to slow down, how do we find rest? In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites all who are weary and weighed down to come to Him and find rest. In this series, we are discovering more about the rest Jesus promised and what it looks like to experience it and live it out! 

In this episode, we talk about ways past trauma or abuse can make accepting Jesus's invitation to rest more complicated. Sometimes we need a safe sister to sit with us, listen to us, and help us take it to Jesus. Sometimes we are the sister who needs to sit, and other times we are the one who gets to lead the way. As we go to Jesus, a great exchange occurs - pain for His peace, anxiety for His rest, hurt for His healing. 

Jane Stephens, a certified mental health coach, spent 15 yrs leading a ministry for women with a history of sexual abuse. She is a lover of Jesus and passionate about seeing women of all ages discover the freedom and rest Jesus has for them as they invite Him into their stories of trauma.  

Mindy Tobin is a servant leader who is passionate about kingdom justice, civil righteousness, and helping church leaders understand the great need to make victims and survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse feel safe, seen, heard, and welcomed in their church environments.

In this episode, we talk about accepting Christ's invitation to receive rest and how godly friendships can be a sanctuary of rest.

We are kicking off our new series, "You Can Rest," with a super fun friend, Neidy Hess. In a world that refuses to slow down, how do we find rest? In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites all who are weary and weighed down to come to Him and find rest. In this conversation series, we are going to discover more about the rest Jesus promised and what it looks like lived out.

We are calling this first episode "sacred pause" because pauses with Jesus are exactly that... sacred. You guys are going to absolutely love this conversation with Neidy. She's the kind of friend you want to meet for coffee because you know it will be one of those conversations that leaves you feeling better than when you showed up!

Neidy is a momma to three & married to a veteran marine turned firefighter-paramedic. She is an incredibly talented writer with a passion for creativity and a heart for diversity. Her family is a part of a bilingual church plant. She currently works as a digital content manager for Be the Bridge and content manager for Exhale Creativity, a creative community for women.

In this episode, we talk about how we've personally experienced the rest Jesus offers, as well as the places we've gotten the rest wrong. We also dive into some teachings of Jesus in Luke 10, seeking to learn from Jesus and discover how we can live, and do, and be from a place of rest.

We are living in unprecedented times. We need sound wisdom to help us courageously navigate the unfamiliar terrain. How do we establish and grow mentorship-like relationships that help us grow? We are finding the answer to that question and more on the podcast!
