The world is thirsting for God. The Feast of Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to guide the Church into the whole truth. We all have something in our life that we are chasing after, but we remain thirsty. Christ offers Himself as the source of rivers of living water if we believe. Instead of offering people the world which will never quench their thirst, offer God to those who are thirsty.

When Christ healed the man born blind, many refused to believe. It was easier to think the man was never blind, than to believe he was healed by God. Without desire to believe, we will refuse even to believe what we see with our own eyes. When we choose to believe our eyes, then we will change our lives to live with God.

When we allow ourselves to remember that God already knows the pain in our hearts, we can confess our sins to Him. Then God will open Himself to us and show us His grace and mercy.  We don’t have to hurt anymore. When we confess our pain to Him, He will fill our hearts with gushing rivers of Living Water from the Holy Spirit.

When the Paralytic admitted to Christ that he didn’t have anyone to help him enter the water and be healed, Christ healed him. When we entered the waters of our Baptism, Christ healed us. The Paralytic went and praised God after he was healed. Most of the time we go through life and ignore God. We have the chance to be healed at every Divine Liturgy when Christ offers us Holy Communion. Let’s not turn our back on God any longer. Let’s live prepared to receive Holy Communion, and live forever.

Going through life we learn that where we look will guide our attention. If we want our life to follow Christ, then we must turn our attention to Christ. It requires courage and faith to not be distracted by the temptations of the world.

After Christ was raised from the dead He appeared to the Apostles. Since Thomas wasn’t present, he did not believe the witness of his fellow Apostles. Eight days later when Christ appeared to them again, this time with Thomas to see for himself. This time he believed. Christ gave to His Apostles everything they needed to believe in His Resurrection. He will give YOU everything you need to believe. All you need to do is be present in the Church to see and believe.
