  • A doctor looks at crucifixion S28e151 Jn19:17

Join me for an unpleasant look at the process of crucifixion.  It was meant to be horrible and it certainly was. It successfully achieved its goals of being agonizing, public, prolonged and humiliating.

All of this suffering is known as the PASSION OF THE CHRIST. But do not forget of another kind of Jesus' passion: His love for you.  Only then can the official "passion of the Christ" make complete sense.

  • Everything you need to know about death S28e150 Jn19:16

Jesus spends His last hours on earth with a couple of shady characters.  They are so bad, the worst punishment in the history of mankind is described as a just punishment.

One of them, after repentance, hears the sweetest words ever spoken on a cross: "Today, you will be with me in paradise".

You can hear these words too if you do as he does.

  • Where do we get the word CALVARY? S28e149 Jn19:16

We say that Jesus died "on Calvary" but it is not a word that is in our English Bibles. Why is that? The term is ominous and terrifying, particularly if you knew that was your next stop.

Join me for a rain interrupted 5.5 minutes as we return to the place of Jesus' crucifixion. like and subscribe, not to the crucifixion but to the podcast.

  • Pilate sits on his own judgement seat. Don’t we all? S28e148 Jn19:12

We cannot throw too many stones at Pilate as he judges Jesus. How he judges Jesus, is how he will be judged. Similarly, How WE JUDGE JESUS is how we will be judged.

What we do with Jesus, is ultimately how we are judged.

Join me for 6.5 minutes to see that Pilate sits on his own judgement seat. Don’t we all?

  • Are you afraid of the power you have? S28e147 Jn19:7

God gives people the opportunity to SELECT Him or not

WHEN they DO: this gives Him glory that a created being, created in His image finally recognizes His image

When they don’t: this gives Him glory for creating humans with choice, even if it is not for Him.

  • Being NOTIFIED that you’re in the middle of a sin S28e146 Jn19:5

Wouldn't it be cool if there was an EARLY WARNING system for sin? Wouldn't it be a mercy to get a notification that you are sinning in real time, or even better, that you are about to sin? Pilate gets this chance during the trials of Jesus.

Unfortunately, Pilate comes up short in his listening. For us, when we get that early warning, let's quickly take heed.

  • Mocking by color, cloak and crown S28e145 Jn19:2

Mocking is debasing a person by parody.

Today the Romans will tell the King of Kings that He is not their king. They tell the king of the world that He is not the king of THEIR world.

They Mock Jesus as King to make a cruel point: You are not a king and You are not OUR king.

They will act like He is a king to show that He is NOT a king.

  • They already kicked me off the internet for this S28e144 Jn19:1

The content of this podcast has already  got me kicked off the internet. It is so violent and unpalatable that the censors should and did "red flag" the publisher. The suffering is so bad, that even reviewing it verbally is offensive.

Hopefully, the suffering of Jesus will strike you deeply. He suffers maximally so we know that our maximal sins can be paid for. I give you the scourging of Jesus.

  • Watch a person who fails to prevail in the truth S28e143 Jn18:36

Watch 7 minutes to see a man fail to prevail in his wrestlings with God.  He has every opportunity.  Others, who had similar opportunities, come to faith. But not him.  It is Pilate and he fails to prevail in his wrestlings with Jesus Himself.

Why watch? So that you, when presented with a similar chance, do not fail to prevail.

  • If you had Jesus all to yourself, what would you ask Him? S28e142 Jn18:33

Pilate gets to do something the rest of us can only dream about: He gets to ask Jesus some questions in private. Some of them involve legal guilt or innocence, but some of them come crashing back upon Pilate's own soul.
