A doxology is the speaking of the praiseworthiness of God. But what's in it for me?
In the most famous doxology in Scripture, the answer is PLENTY. He is ABLE TO KEEP ME FROM STUMBLING. He helps TODAY, at the "stumbling-point" moment, if I ask.
Then He helps on THAT DAY. He presents me BLAMELESS. This of course is "impossible" for all but God Himself. Who else can forgive sins against Him? Who else can change history?
So yes, I should be "praise-speaking" of His glory, dominion, majesty and authority. But what charms me today is His HELP. Join me for 7 minutes to hear about it and 7 more tomorrow if you go to bewithme.us or Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
When you go to church, the place should smell like smoke. Everybody there is either in need of being SNATCHED from the fire, or HAS BEEN SNATCHED from the fire. Nobody comes to the Lord who isn't impossibly snatched. We are snatched by the Lord's LOVE. Love snatches us.
We should ACT LIKE we've been heroically snatched. It is an active, ongoing, perhaps even tiresome process. "Keep yourself in the love of God." Snatched people should be the most grateful, most worshipful, & the most evangelical people on the planet. They should be enthusiastically doing the activities of the snatched.
STAY snatched. There's a lot to do. Or, BE SNATCHED by God's love if you have not yet.

Jude is an emergency letter written in an emergency situation. The essence of it is a LEADERSHIP CRISIS. Leadership crisis are particularly bad because it is the fastest way to take out the whole swath of the congregation.
Leaders are at risk in three main categories: Power, Profit, and Pleasure. It looks like Jude's target congregation's leadership suffers from all three.
But mostly I am grateful today. I have pastors who are contending for me while I contend for the faith. If that describes you too, be grateful. If it does not describe you, get somewhere where it does. And...Come back tomorrow by signing up at bewithme.us or Spotify
Jude writes an emergency letter occasioned by an emergency sexual situation founded on an emergency attitude toward God. Because BEHAVIOR betrays BELIEF, what is going on with people's ZIPPER shows what's going on in their attitudes toward God.
It is no different in times of the Old Testament. People have been gifted with sexuality since Adam got WOWED by Eve. Similarly, people have been given the opportunity to do this right or wrong since then. Listen 7 minutes as we hear of some bad examples to push us toward being good examples.

One of the people Jesus left to lead the 1st generation of the church was his actual brother, JUDE. He was one of the family members that thought Jesus "out of His mind" before the resurrection (Mark3:21). He's come a long way since then.
Jude wants to write a leisurely long letter, but because of urgent circumstances, he has to send an EMERGENCY letter. He calls on his audience to CONTEND FOR THE FAITH. Not just to be ready to fight, but to actually fight for it. It is the Defcon 4 of the Bible. It is going to be hard, but not too hard. It is going to be a stretch, but not out of reach. It is going to be a struggle, but He's going to help.

We leave the book of Hebrews with our pockets full of HELP. We have the PAST (the great cloud of witnesses) helping us with our NOW. We have the example of Jesus (who for the joy set before Him He endured the cross) using the FUTURE to help with the NOW. We are left equipped for the very difficult moments of our TODAY.
Yes Lord, we want the good stuff. We do want all Your provisions and all of Your PERSON. We surely will need Your help in the high calls heard in Hebrews.
Jesus called Himself the GOOD Shepherd. Hebrews gives Jesus a promotion: the GREAT SHEPHERD. Let's all draw near. Nothing could please Him more.
I'm grateful for the days of walking through this wonderful book with you. Come back tomorrow for the next book: JUDE.
There are 16 named, and a whole bunch of anonymous men and women who are highlighted in the "Hall of Fame of Faith" of Hebrews 11. They are important to us, because each of us plays on the "field of faith" every single day. We'd best pay attention.
Each one of these heroes demonstrates a facet of faith. Abraham had a RESURRECTION FAITH, Sarah has a CONSIDERED faith, Gideon has an IDENTITY faith, Moses has a VALUED faith, and David has the faith of RECOVERY. Every one of their examples has something precious for you. With this list, God has given us everything we need to have faith today. Trust me, we will need it. Let's take these heroes with us as examples in their faith.
