Be With Me: 7 Minutes of Biblical Wonder

God the Creator will someday "consume" His creation. Poof. Gone. His choice. But not everything will be on the menu.  He preserves a couple of things: His KINGDOM and His people. There is an eternal party in heaven with the Godhead, angels and people of FAITH. Now they are people who have no real right to be there and have received GRACE and MERCY by faith.

He warns us not to reject this invitation to the party; and don't reject the INVITOR. You get there by faith, just like always. Things won't always be as they seem right now, so get busy in faith today if you don't believe. If you do believe, be grateful, be in awe and worship.

You are invited to a PARTY in heaven. You have an engraved invitation. God, who is all holy and just will be there, so there needs to be some satisfaction for your unholiness problem.  Fortunately, Jesus is there to permanently fix that problem with "a better blood" than Moses or Able had access to.

Lots of angels will be there at this "festal gathering". So will an assembled mass of once imperfect people now made perfect by a process way above their pay grade. You are invited to this heavenly party. Please please please say YES on your RSVP card. He doesn't force anyone to come. But, He makes the way accessible for everyone to come.

God is in the holiness business, but to what extent am I in the holiness business?  We are asked to RUN HARD after something ONLY GOD CAN GIVE. We are asked to STRIVE toward a holiness that is only sourced from God.

God is in the holiness business.  I am involved in the RELENTLESS PURSUIT of holiness business. I am to RUN AFTER a grace that only God can give.

Let God do His fine work of sharing holiness and grace.  Let us do the striving, strengthening, and sweating in pursuit of it. Yes, we strive for something that can only be gifted in an unmerited way. We strive here to obtain a holiness that can only come from there. 7 minutes. Listen and subscribe. If you know any wonderful spiritual people, they likely got that way one correction at a time. It didn't happen in a POOF. They seriously considered the question, "What could I be doing better?" Consider these three steps:

1. BE WRONG. If you hear the Voice of conviction, that is a good thing. Worse is the silence of indifference. This is what Fathers do for sons. The first step is the Holy Spirit crying out: "You can do better here"
2. BE SOFT. Be willing to be corrected. Only you can do this. Put yourself before Him in subjection. It is for your good.
3. BE BETTER. God wishes us to be holy; to bear more of a familial resemblance to Himself. Let's be trained in this way.

You'll have a problem today. Everybody will. It will be very real, and very now. All you have is TODAY to act upon it. But today is not the only day we have to influence  our situation.  We have THE PAST examples and THE FUTURE promises to assist us.

We are to use the past  to help us with our present.

• look to this great surrounding cloud of witnesses that did it right
• look to Jesus and the perfect way that He did it

Both of these used the future to help with their now. That is, they looked to something way in the future to help them endure through and unpleasant now.  They looked at what was to come to help set their minds in dealing with what was current. Jesus entrusted  and so can we. The cloud of witnesses looked to the future promises and so can we.  It's called FAITH. bewithme.us Spotify FB and instagram. 

Sometimes you gotta wait. But what if as you wait, you are mocked, flogged, chained, imprisoned, stoned to death, homeless, impoverished, and my personal favorite, sawn in two. Sometimes being in God's family is no picnic. We may not be facing these actual horrors like our forefathers and mothers, but we are facing something.

Likely you'll have a bit of suffering today, if in no other way than in your resistance to temptation. Like the heroes mentioned you'll get two things to help:

1. The presence of God
2. The GRACE for the moment.

Jerome of Prague was scheduled to be burned at the stake in 1460. He was given the opportunity to be released by proclaiming that he no longer held his biblical beliefs. He was tempted and was tortured for 13 months and eventually he succumbed by recanting his beliefs.  They didn't thoroughly believe him and wanted him to recant a second time. 

The Spirit must have been strong with him, for at his second opportunity, he "recanted his first recantation." That is, he proclaimed the biblical Christ, knowing that it would mean being burned at the stake. Not only did Jerome refuse release but he did so knowing an unpleasant death awaited.  BTW: he sang all the way on his 1 mile trek to his burning site.

Hebrews highlights some who were "made strong out of weakness." So they started in bad circumstances with no known resources to bring to bear agains them. Their situation looked pretty grim. Then, in what seems sudden, is STRENGTH.  But don't miss how they got from weakness to strength: There was a Maker. God is there in the making. He is the source and key element of the weak becoming strong.

It is not how the circumstances find you. It is how the Lord sees you and to what the Lord makes you. He is the maker of the mighty. Today, let's look beyond the task, and even the resources required for the task.  Without the MAKER, no weak scaredy-cat would ever be made strong. Let's focus on "the WHO"; that is, Who is it that can make the weak strong?

Flag étiquette dictates that a nation's flag should never touch the ground. It should never be 'dragged in the dirt' literally or figuratively.  Similarly, the old prophet, judge, and interactor-with-God Samuel made a similar commitment to the Word of God. "Samuel grew and the Lord was with him, and he let none of His words fall to the ground."

Samuel is a great example of faith for two things:

• He listened to God. He inclined his ear to HEAR the Words of God. "Speak, your servant it LISTENING"
• He committed himself that none of the words received would fall to the ground. He honored, respected and was inclined to obey God's Words.

Justin Bieber just sold his music catalog for $200 million; the Boss Bruce Springsteen for $500 million.  I wonder how much DAVID's musical catalogue is worth?  He wrote 75 of the 150 psalms so we already have his catalog published.

It is here in his music where the two prominent features of David come together:

• his "heart": "I have found in David a man after My heart"
• his FAITH: "what David does with the Person of God while he waits for the promises of God to be revealed."

David makes the top of the HEART list and the top of the FAITH list.  If you want to find out how David is thinking about God before he sees God, GO TO HIS MUSIC CATALOG. The Lord is my shepherd (ps. 23), What is man that You are mindful of him? (ps.8), The heavens declare the glory of the Lord (ps. 19). I think we'd find a heart to follow here in this collection. I'll bet it is worth much more than Bieber; than Springsteen.
