However, worship is ultimately about our hearts and our active relationship with God. God is concerned with what we give to Him from our hearts, rather than simply how He wants to use us. God does not need us to accomplish anything for Him, but He desires hearts that willingly give themselves to Him. At the heart of worship is exactly this: a heart that is fully surrendered to God.

Drawing on Scripture’s teaching about fasting, Valentine explores how Jesus shifts our understanding of tradition—not as something simply added to our lives, but as something that transforms the way we live.

Jesus is meant to permeate every aspect of our lives. As believers, we must remain flexible, open and ready to respond to what Jesus wants to do in and through us. We can only receive what God has for us when we allow ourselves to be shaped and aligned with His will and His ways. This means that we must be willing to change, adapt and become more responsive to Jesus. In doing so, we create space to receive the things we ask of God and to experience His purposes for our lives.

This sermon was given to us by Gemma Bradshaw, who encourages us to consider our own lives and what it means to follow Jesus wholeheartedly. Using the encounter between Jesus and Levi the tax collector, Gemma invites us to reflect on the things in our own walk with Jesus that we may need to give up. This can be a challenging message for believers, as following Jesus requires us to examine the ways we live and the things that may be holding us back. Gemma reminds us that Jesus did not come only to heal those who are physically sick, but also those who are spiritually sick — those affected by sin. There may be sins, habits or ways of life that we need to surrender to Jesus in order to follow Him more fully. It is a challenge, but when we consider Jesus and His will for our lives, it is a challenge worth taking.

This week’s sermon was given by Elisha DaCosta, who beautifully reminds us that Jesus is accessible to us, whatever our needs may be. Elisha elaborates that Jesus, the miracle worker, has freely given us salvation through His death and resurrection. Knowing these things about Jesus reminds us that we are loved, cared for and chosen. The story of the man with leprosy shows us just how much God loves us. As Scripture tells us, God loved us so much that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.

This week Jonny Rudd theologically breaks down Luke 5:1-11. In Luke 5:1–11, Simon Peter’s encounter with Jesus transforms his understanding of who Jesus is—from “Master” to “Lord.” But the encounter doesn’t stop with Peter. The men in his boat move from colleagues to fellowship as they share in the same life-changing experience. Jonny explores what happens when an encounter with Jesus reshapes not only our view of Him, but also the way we relate to the people around us.

This sermon, given by Tim Khoo, encourages the church to "take the roof off". Through theological and philosophical reflection, Tim challenges believers to consider what this means in practice. He explains that we can unknowingly contain and limit God in our own thinking. Rather than trying to manage God, Tim encourages us to receive Him by allowing Jesus to lead and direct every area of our lives. He concludes that when we truly receive Jesus, lives are transformed and miracles abound.

This week's sermon was delivered by Nick Wood, who used the analogy of a wedding day and marriage to illustrate the covenant between the Israelites and God. Nick explained that the covenant established in the Old Testament revealed its limitations, as it was impossible for the Israelites to keep God's Law through their own strength. Their relationship with God depended on their ability to remain holy, yet they continually fell short. In contrast, believers are recipients of God's grace through Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom, who sacrificed His life on our behalf. Through His death and resurrection, we are atoned for and saved, something we could never achieve through our own efforts or strength.

Last week, Phil Hopgood explored Exodus 23 and helped us understand that the laws given in Exodus can be challenging. However, he encouraged us by reminding us that, as we journey with God and grow in understanding His expectations, the transformation He desires in us takes time. Using several examples from Exodus, Phil showed how these laws can challenge our thinking and beliefs. Ultimately, though, it is only through Jesus that we are changed and come to understand how to live the life God has prepared for us. This transformation does not happen overnight; it is a gradual but certain process as we learn to trust in Jesus and walk with Him.

This sermon was given by Phil Hopgood, who thoughtfully unpacks Exodus 21. Phil reminds us that some of the topics and laws found in the Bible are genuinely challenging and require believers to wrestle with God's heart towards His people. He encourages us not to shy away from difficult questions, reminding us that wrestling with and questioning God's Word is okay. As believers, we are called to consider the historical context and what Jesus teaches about the laws given in the Old Testament. Phil also makes it clear that when these laws seem mysterious or difficult to understand, we should look to God and His character. In doing so, we can find greater clarity, peace, and a deeper understanding of the God we serve.

This sermon was delivered by Lally Wood, who speaks about the Ten Commandments and how they should be applied in our daily lives. Lally reminds us that the Ten Commandments remain just as relevant for believers today. Because they are so familiar, it can be easy to overlook their significance or dismiss them as simply part of the Old Testament law. However, as followers of Christ, we are encouraged to take time to reflect on each commandment, consider its fulfilment and application in the New Testament, and understand how God continues to use them to guide us in living righteous and faithful lives.
