  • How Resetting Your Body Can Help You Achieve the Life You Could Only Dream Of

In today's episode of Beat Your Addictions podcast we interview Amy Guerrero about the importance of gut health and healing the body's pathways to open your life up to achieving your dreams and staying sober in recovery.  About Amy-  I spent two years stumbling around in the dark trying to find my path to freedom. All I wanted was to fully accept myself; to feel whole and happy living sober. But I was stuck. I was pretending to be happy, thinking, the next meeting, the next therapy session – that’s when I’m going to be 'fixed,' finally confident and comfortable in my own skin.  It wasn't happening.  When I reflect on this journey… What kept me going? I was driven by a vision of success – that building this for myself meant I could then share it with others.  When I stopped using drugs and alcohol I turned my healing into my  work and started sharing years of education and teaching to coach people to live life with freedom, fun, and clarity in all areas of their life in recovery.   Thrive in Recovery will help you discover your purpose to create the life you desire to go beyond surviving to thriving in all areas of life.  Why am I so passionate about this work? My passion comes from knowing what we do together is different than anything I found during my own recovery.  What does that mean? It means I tried everything. I tortured myself, studying all the books, workbooks and resources of 12-steps, Celebrate Recovery, Refuge Recovery, SMART Recovery, and Life Ring (to name a few). My approach blends the best of those and other recovery paths to create a tailor-made journey exactly for you and your specific needs, desires, and goals.  I know one-on-one healing and thriving creates a ripple effect, breaking unhealthy patterns in your relationships forever. I know it can start with you right now.

  • You Have To Kill Your Demons - Interview with Enrique Aponte

On Today's episode of 'Beat Your Addictions'  podcast, we are interviewing Enrique Aponte of Enrecoverytogether.  More about Enrique- I understand you. I have fought the battle and I want to support you and see you become victorious. Over twenty years ago I was struggling with devastating life-controlling compulsions, destructive behaviors, and, devastating consequences.  I know that feeling of overwhelming hopelessness very intimately. It took for me to secure professional help to bring out of me what I needed for my clarity of mind, sobriety and a joyful life. That experience in conjunction with my recovery journey inspired me to develop what I call the 3 C’s and 4C's Methods. I have personally traveled the path that you need to navigate to discover how to get past and stay away from the following and more:  The self-perception of not being good enough for a great life ahead because of shame and guilt.  The thoughts of inadequacy and second-guessing your potential to be genuinely happy in sobriety. The insidious disbelief of the fact that there is a strategy at hand to achieve a sober-minded, productive, and overall joyful life.

  • You Don't Have To Swallow Your Gun - Men and Mental Health with Tim Krass

In today's episode of 'Beat Your Addictions' podcast we discuss the importance of men acknowledging their mental health with expert Tim Krass who himself has survived through severe depression and suicide attempts.

Tim Krass’ harrowing, dramatic personal story weaves its way throughout his book YOU DON’T HAVE TO SWALLOW YOUR GUN. Tim lived with depression, suicide attempts and has studied masculinity for more than thirty-seven years.  His diagnosed condition of ‘severe depressive disorder that is recurring’ was the reason that he abused marijuana, and that he had a knife in his hand in order to slit his wrists and bleed out.  This condition ruined his business and personal relationships and retarded his growth as a human being. His condition was a factor in causing his heart attack as well as expanding the size of his ego, which limited his quality of life.  Despite having a heart attack, Tim has lived through a severe depressive disorder that is recurring as well as his forty-one year addiction to drugs and alcohol. He understands what masculinity is and what masculinity is not, so he can ask for help with his diseases and give his best to living a healthy and happy life. He is dedicating his life to create awareness of his story so that other men don’t have to go through the pain and suffering that he experienced because men CAN get the support they require to manage their depression and many times addictions, in order to be the best version of themselves. He wants to help as many people and save as many lives as possible.

  • Sober Is The New Cool - Interview with Kim Bellas

In this episode of 'Beat Your Addictions' we interview Kim Bellas founder of www.soberisthenewcool.org

     ABOUT KIM BELLAS

In 2013, my 15 -year-old started having seizures. Like most teenagers, he enjoyed going to parties and socializing. A significant aspect of these parties was the consumption of alcohol, and my son was unable to drink due to his seizures.  As a mother, it was instinctive to make him happy by assuring him that alcohol wasn't necessary for him to enjoy himself. It IMMEDIATELY dawned on me how hypocritical I was being as I found myself frequently drinking wine.  To prove a point to my son, I stopped drinking for 3 months. The time went by quicker than I anticipated, and I decided to remain sober for another 3 months. Following 6 months of sobriety, I found myself happier than I had been in a while. What started as an example for my son became something I decided to commit to for my son and myself.  It's now 2021, and I am proud to announce that I've been sober for 8 years. Sobriety has changed my outlook on life for the better and has improved both my physical and mental well-being.   My goal is to demonstrate that a SOBER LIFE is an exhilarating one, and anyone can reap the benefits.
