Beatnik Turtle's Song of the Day

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... Beatnik Turtle had plans to make a second album (right after their debut CD What We've Got). A project called Santa Doesn't Like You delayed that album a bit. Then along came the Cheapass project, a live album, a tiny project called The Song Of The Day, and two RPM Challenges which produced All In A Day's Work and Sham Rock. Now finally we'd like to take you way back in time to our very next album, perpetually code named "BT2". Although this song is a live show favorite and has been performed tons of times (check out Thanks For Coming Out! Beatnik Turtle Live! for a great live version), we finally recorded a studio version of it.

This week sees the end of Irish rock releases from our album, Sham Rock. For this week's song we partnered with up-and-coming singer-songwriter Chris Campbell to produce his first release, "Final Scene" which will appear on Chris's debut EP "Celebrate by Sleeping" this July.

This song is dedicated to Joe Murphy who lost his battle with cancer on 4/1/07. About eight weeks before this, our friend Mur Lafferty wrote in and asked if we could write a song about Joe's super spy alter ego, Mason Rocket. We did and since we recorded it during February, it became part of our Record Production Month album, All In A Day's Work

Joe Murphy was a podcaster, a writer, and a dear friend to many people. There's a memorial fund that Joe's friends created on his behalf. Donations are appreciated.
