This episode I share how I found myself in unchartered territory when my teen decided to make a stand against my authority.
What did I do? How did I feel? What caused it all in the first place?
Moving forward, a look at how I handled the situation and where we go from here.

Chatty update. Let’s talk about the cost of living expenses and what I’m doing to save even just the smallest of pennies to help with Christmas.
Also, what have we been up to on our unschooling home education journey?

Do you feel you worry about others all the time?
Are you an Empath?
In this episode we discover together what it is that makes being an empath different from internalising other peoples problems. We talk about how draining this is and the negative impacts of not setting yourself the right boundaries.
The ability to feel for others and put yourself in anothers shoes is a lovely quality to have yet what should we do to help ourselves rectify when we take this too far to the detriment of our own mental health?

As parents, do we actively listen enough?
Do we make time to really be present and give quality responses to our kids?
How often do we get it wrong and rush responses or give hurried and bad advice?
Do we listen to talk?
This episode explores the reality that even though we are often preoccupied and busy, we should really be making space to hear our children. Arranging to talk at less stressful times of the day or admitting when we've gotten it wrong, apologising and putting things right all show our children that we respect them and in turn how we would like to be treated too.

Do you utilise to-do lists & habit trackers?
Do they work for you or are you working for them?
In this episode, I talk honestly about how I've been struggling with my time management just recently and how after a lot of thought I realised, it was my failure to prioritise the right things, that was the real issue.

Todays episode looks at the pitfalls of forcing friendships between children, both schooled and homeschooled. How it seldom works, the upset it causes and how we can help our children to understand that it is ok if not everyone likes them.
Specifically, we highlight how it is not the time during the school day that a child learns the skills required to form strong friendships. That these are life skills that happen after hours or on the weekends when life is truly happening. Equally how home educators need to allow their children space at group meets.
We look at why home-educated children might find it easier to avoid drama but also how home educators need to allow their children space at group meets.

In this episode we'll talk about the worries we have for our children and how they can affect our own wellbeing. What are the top five worries parents of young children have? Does having these worries take its toll on the adult relationships at home?
We'll also look at how we feel about our children growing up. Can keeping your own separate interests, friends, and love life alive help prepare you for the inevitable fact that your children will leave home one day?

Taking a short break from the topic of homeschool in the first of two mini-episodes.
This time talking about practicing gratitude and learning that it is ok to give yourself grace at times.
With the focus firmly on the grown-ups this time, we acknowledge that we all have times when we need to be kinder to ourselves.
The takeaway message being, that by looking for the good in our days, we will find more about ourselves to like, and then we can begin to move forward and grow in the new found faith in ourselves.
Over on Instagram and Facebook you can connect with me by sharing how you manage to practice gratitude in your day to day and if you have succeeded in making it a daily habit.
Next week, in the second episode we'll talk about the worries we have for our children and how they can not only affect our own wellbeing but also hinder their independence. What are the top five worries parents of young children have? Does having these worries take its toll on the adult relationships at home?
Finally, we'll look at how we feel about our children growing up. Can keeping your own separate interests, friends, and love life alive help prepare you for the inevitable fact that your children will leave home one day?
