Raising responsible young adults is the goal for many of us parents, and the path is much easier if we start when our kids are little.
One effective way to teach responsibility to young children is through the use of age-appropriate chore charts. They encourage independence and self-discipline while also providing opportunities for children to contribute to the household in meaningful ways.
Here are a few ways you can create and implement chore charts tailored to your children's ages and abilities!

Kids are cute but can bring a little chaos to your life, especially when you’re on the go!
The good news is, keeping the car organised is simple when you have a few hacks to help.
Here are my favourite ways to turn a cluttered car into a well-organised travel hub!

If you’d like to encourage your kids to do their homework, complete their assignments or spend a little more time studying without having to nag, push or argue about it, creating a space they enjoy using is key.
Having a cosy and functional space helps make studying more enjoyable, and the more we enjoy something, the more likely we are to do it.
Try these ideas for creating a homework or study space for your kids!

Shoe storage can look a little messy when you have young children! It’s usually because...
Kids are always on the move and there’s no set place they think of as the spot where they put on and take off their shoes. They tend to dump their shoes wherever they happen to take them off because they’re focused on whatever they’re about to do next...
Kids grow out of shoe sizes really quickly in their first 10 years so it’s not unusual to have lots of shoes in different sizes and lose track of which ones actually fit and get worn regularly...
We get given shoes as hand me downs from well meaning friends and family, and while it’s a thoughtful idea that saves money, we have to store the shoes somewhere while we’re waiting for kids to grow into them
Messy shoes make the house look more cluttered than it really is, and it’s hard to relax when we’re tripping over random shoes or spending way too long looking for them when we’re in a hurry in the morning.
Here are my favourite tips to keep shoes tidy!

Keeping your home tidy feels like a huge job when the rest of your family messes it up again right after you’ve tidied it!
Yes, we should be encouraging our partner and children to tidy up after themselves.
But the reality is, they don’t.
This leaves you with 2 choices:
I prefer to relax in a tidy haven, but I don’t want to spend much time tidying up, especially when it’s not my mess, so I have a few little hacks that make the tidying quicker and easier.

If life is feeling a bit chaotic and overwhelming trying to manage your household (along with everything else at work and in life), that’s a sign that it’s time to start delegating.
One easy task to delegate is to have the kids tidy their own room.
I know, it feels quicker and easier to just do it yourself but I promise, once this becomes a habit and they get the hang of it, it really helps reduce your workload. Not only do you not have to tidy it yourself anymore, but other tasks like changing bedlinen, decluttering and deeper cleaning become much easier because you don’t have to wade through everything to do it.
Kids like a tidy room too, they just feel overwhelmed when we ask them to do it because they don’t know where to start and they don’t have a step by step to follow.
Give them this simple one and you’ll find they’ll pick it up quickly and easily!

The washing pile looks more like a mountain when you’ve got young kids - and it can really add a lot of overwhelm to your week, especially if you need particular items on specific days or have a run of bad weather.
While it seems like a simple job at first glance, when you consider every step of the task - sorting, treating stains, washing, drying, folding and putting away its actually 6 jobs in one. No wonder we feel like we’re drowning in it!
Here are my favourite ways to simplify laundry and make keeping up with it all a little easier.

As parents, there are lots things on our to-do list that seem essential, but in reality, they’re not always as important as we first think.
Trying to do everything can leave us feeling overwhelmed and burnt out.
Let’s take a bit of a breather and ditch these 5 things (if you want to)!

When you’re a busy parent of young children, it can often feel like there's never enough time in the day to get everything done.
Between work, school runs, sports or other activities and everything else that comes with family life, it's easy to feel overwhelmed or like you're not making any progress, and when you start to feel that way, it’s really easy to slip into a state of procrastination, which then makes your to do list feel even more difficult.
Over the last few years I’ve had to really embrace the art of baby stepping my way through things in order to get them done without procrastination or overwhelm.
For me, breaking down tasks - even the everyday ones - into much smaller steps has been a game-changer, and it’s also helped a lot when it comes to delegating and teaching the kids how to get things done too!
