Today I'm celebrating the launch of Graced.  My friends Courtney and Christina join me to discuss what they have been learning from this Bible study. We've been working through it at our local church. 

We share answers to questions such as,

• How have these sexually broken women given you hope for your own story?
• What is it like to do this study alongside a group of women of all different ages and stages of life?
• How has Graced provided a safe place to share your hard stories?
• What would you say to a woman who is considering this study?

It might surprise you to find stories of sexually broken women all over the pages of Scripture. Their stories aren't tucked away in hidden corners but take center stage. These are women God sought out and invited into His family. These are women Jesus befriended. He lifted them from shame and restored their dignity.

Graced invites women to dive deep into the Bible and discover the heart of God toward six broken women in Scripture. (Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba, the woman at the well, the woman caught in adultery, and the sinful woman at Simon's house) Their stories resonate with modern-day readers and offer hope and healing to you and the women you love.

Today I speak with my good friend, Angie Baughman. Angie is a kindred spirit who understands that life is HARD. In the hard, she encourages us to focus our hearts on God’s faithfulness! Angie honestly shares her story of sexual brokenness and her journey toward healing. She talks about the power of self-care, staying in God’s word, and telling ourselves the truth. She beautifully identifies with the sinful woman at Simon’s house. A woman who was disposable to the men around the table. And yet was accepted and embraced by Jesus.

I recorded this episode a few months ago. And as I re-listened to it for editing, I was so encouraged by Angie’s honesty, her love for Jesus, and her willingness to be vulnerable for your sake. You are going to be so blessed by today’s episode!!

Psalm 103
1Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.

There is a story in the New Testament about a woman whose life was marked by sin, shame, and disgrace. But when she encountered Jesus, He lifted her, honored her, and turned toward her. That is the posture of God. His heart always turns toward the sinner. In love, in redemption, and with a desire to rescue.

This woman challenges us to consider how we respond to God's grace. Her actions toward Jesus are a beautiful, shameless display of uninhibited worship! Click here for show notes.

When we are feeling miserable, we want to know how we can fix it, and the sooner, the better. Just give me six steps to follow, a self-care routine, or some positive affirmations I can repeat to myself.  But  Confession & repentance? That’s not what we’re looking for.

Psalm 32 beautifully walks us through the process of moving from guilt, bondage, and misery to forgiveness, freedom, and celebration. God has given us repentance as a gift!  It’s the hinge on which forgiveness turns, and it might be the missing ingredient in your life.  Click here for show notes.

When you hear about someone struggling with something that seems pretty black and white to you, do you lean more toward truth or grace? Would you be the first to run to her with words of comfort and encouragement or with hard, but honest advice? Jesus is the perfect embodiment of grace and truth. When a woman is brought to Him who has been caught in a sin punishable by death, His response silences an angry mob. In this stunning scene, we watch as waves of grace and truth flow from Jesus onto a sexually broken woman. His grace spares her life and sets her free from shame.
