Today's episode features Rick Mirer and Drew Bledsoe who in 1993 were the #1 and #2 draft picks for the NFL. While they were supposed to be competitive as they went into the draft, the two instead became connected for years to come. Today they both have successful wineries, Drew's in his home state of Washington and Rick in Northern California where he spent a few years playing and connecting with wine enthusiasts and wine makers.
We discuss with them the details of their draft day, Drew's families first trip to NYC for the draft and why Rick opted to stay home in Indiana for the big day. They discuss the value of not having social media when they were drafted, the advantages of not being on video at all times. In addition listen to how they became connected from the time they met in prepping for the draft and then post draft staying in touch. After discussing some football, and the upcoming NFL draft top picks we turn to wine and their new ventures. Drew and Rick host the Wine Odyssey online and are using it to connect with more people during quarantine, it's a great way to highlight their wine knowledge and share other great wine brands that are out there. Lastly we discuss charity and giving back, and their advice to athletes and giving back during this time.
Tune in! We cover football, wine, WNBA draft, family and way more!
