This episode features a conversation I had with my TEDx mentor, Ken Harvey on their Check It Out Podcast. I talked about my experiences of overcoming adversity from childhood to my adulthood, becoming a first time author, and the process of writing my memoir: Evolving Through Adversity. I also talked about my immigration journey to North America, and starting from scratch as a war refugee.
Ken also asked me about my experience as a first-time TEDx speaker and how was stepping on the red stage to give a talk on race and other identity constructs, called: We Are Not All that Different. Toward the end of the episode, I answer podcast listeners on healing pain and achieving one's aspirations, as well as give my take on funding public libraries with taxpayers' money. Enjoy and share!

October 12, 2021 Critical Race Theory (What is It?)
In today’s episode, I want to explore a topic that I’m hearing more and more these days, especially as we are getting ready to vote again in local elections this November 2nd, 2021. The topic that’s being talked about in schools, media and political spaces is called Critical Race Theory (or CRT in short), and whether CRT should be mandatory as a class taught in schools from K-12 public schools, public colleges and universities, and at medical schools. I share my perspectives on this often uncomfortable topic when it comes to race in America, and what we need to do to work toward racial equity, reduce racial fear, and disrupt biases in the education, communities and the workplace.
