So I need to issue an apology (I am using some humor here too). I have been a youth pastor on and off for over 20 years, and I have issued the ridiculous ultimatum to my female students at summer camp “ONE PIECE SWIMSUITS ONLY.” First of all, I am sorry.

- #1 I am sorry that I didn’t teach boys to control themselves

- #2 I am sorry I laid the weight of purity on a girls swimsuit while she was swimming, and not on the boy’s responsibility to not be gross

- #3 I am sorry to all the girls that frantically searched for an appropriate one piece so that some male youth pastor could deem them appropriate ... story here - I accompanied my fiancé and her daughter as we desperately looked for a cute one piece that would be appropriate for camp ... it was hard and it sucked

- #4 I am sorry that we have deemed a young women’s body as something that “needs to be covered” and let young men’s bodies be ok to be seen

- #5 I am sorry I ever let this be an item of discussion, usually lead by men, at any youth leader meeting ... this must have been awful for my female leaders and students to be part of

I am still a fan of the “No Produce Rule” - No buns, bananas, or breasts need to be seen. But why are stomachs overtly sexual? Why is a little cleavage sinful? Why are women meant to feel they are responsible for men’s actual sin of lust?

So I am sorry to all the students, especially females, that we subjugated to our rules. I am sorry to my female students as they desperately tried to search for a swimsuit in the days leading up to camp. I am sorry if you felt sexualized by us telling you to cover up. I am sorry I didn’t teach boys to be men and laid that responsibility on young women.

Female students - wear a swimsuit that lets you have fun.

Male students - stop being disgusting and control yourself

Youth pastors (male especially) - stop being chauvinist and making female students feel bad for having breasts

Christians - live like Jesus

From Anger And Dismissal At God To Pastor with Travis Hall

- when I was 14, I lost my older brother to an airplane accident while he was flying routine drills in the Navy over the ocean

- I was angry at God and started to live my life to do everything I could to hurt him - drugs, women, parties, etc.

- married and divorced by 18

- had my first son at 18

- had a "Paul on the road to Damascus" moment at 19

- called into full-time ministry

- left a full-time job with benefits to pastor a storefront church of 14 people who couldn't even afford the gas money for my hour commute

- grew that church, with God's help, to 350+

- moved to metro Atlanta 4.5 years ago to pastor Life Church International

- last year launched a leadership podcast

- published my first book in February of this year

- launching the Leadership Institute for Core Development this Fall

Hi, My name is Dave Nassaney and I help caregivers to not just survive, but to THRIVE. As a caregiver since 1996, I understand the pain and frustration of caregiving. I teach caregivers who are taking care of their loved ones (due to an illness or disability) how to take care of themselves FIRST.

Why am I so qualified to be “The Caregiver’s Caregiver” you might ask? Well, as I have mentioned, I am (and have been) a caregiver to my beautiful wife, Charlene, for over 2 decades, when she suffered a massive stroke that left her severely speech impaired and paralyzed on the right side.

After a 2-3-year grieving period, we almost broke up, but we hung in there. She was angry and bitter most of the time, and after I attended a caregiver support group, I learned that I had to put my needs first — like the airlines tell us to put our oxygen mask on first. After doing this, she started becoming her old self again, and our love was rekindled.

I then realized that there were so many other caregivers out there suffering and feeling all alone, I didn’t want them to suffer or give up like I almost did. So, I became Dave, The Caregiver’s Caregiver.

I now host a popular syndicated radio show heard in all 50 states and 135 countries. I am a best-selling author, currently releasing my 4th book. I have spoken on the same stage with Suzanne Somers at Harvard, and Martha Stewart at Carnegie Hall. During my current national book and media tour, I have appeared on 35 network TV shows from Hawaii to Washington, DC, as well as speaking at the, Nasdaq Market Site, The New York City Bar, Coca Cola, Mercedes Benz,, the Harvard Clubs of Boston and New York, a Ted Talk, West Point, the NY Academy of Medicine, and currently booked to speak at the Royal Society of Medicine in London this year, sharing my message to caregivers, “How To Prevent Your Loved One’s Illness or Disease (or even the Corona Virus) From Killing You.”

This is nutty. I became an instant mom overnight. It was just me and my dogs and then I met my husband and he had 2 boys. One of them is on the Autism Spectrum. I was working for myself and definitely treating it as a hobby. Well, his job took him out of state on a regular basis. We decided we wanted to homeschool so I went from no kids to 2 kids home full time while my husband was gone 2-4 weeks at a time. I really had to learn to say no to things and give myself some grace for my own sanity. Now, I can homeschool, manage the dogs, the therapies, and two businesses at once because I set some hard boundaries on my time.
