Lynn and I discuss being in an orphanage at 5, then to California and from 7-9 in juvenile hall. 9-13 foster care where she survived sexual abuse, and then back into the home where she was taken from. Surviving with food from dumpsters, writing since she was 12, alcoholic parents, a dad who gambled, 6 siblings to being a nurse and working in the police force with their rape cases, then retiring. It was quite an adventure!

In my interview with you, I want those who will be listening eventually to know me more as the author who, through my life experiences have made me who I am today. From the dysfunctional childhood, through professional careers and as a mother and grandmother, grounded in my Catholic Faith, that life is precious and anything is possible. Even miracles.

The story in the book Chaos To Clarity is about my TURTLE who was with me for 33 years as a beloved companion and she is now living her life as a wild turtle in a natural pond. This is a personal story, about my struggle with worry and concern because I take my role as a guardian to any animal who comes to me very seriously and she was given to me as a gift when I was in my 20's. When I couldn't find her after she slipped out of the enclosure in our yard, I felt devastated and talk about this in my story in the book. Eventually, I was able to come to peace about her decision to live the rest of her life as a turtle in the wild and am now happy for her. She has a boyfriend and girlfriends and she can swim freely to her hearts content. She also enjoys eating new and natural foods for her such as minnows, fish eggs, vegetation etc.

My horses (and animals in general) have always been a huge part of my life. I was kicked in the head by a horse as a child and later in life my horses helped me heal from that trauma and recover the parts of my soul that were frozen in that experience. They helped me, as an adult, recognize and face the incongruence I was living, taught me how to process fears and insecurities to reclaim the most authentic version of myself and guided me to develop my highly intuitive and energy healing skills that I now could not live without, and use to help humans and animals find deeper meaning and clarity in their lives and relationships. The more I journeyed into the realm of spirit with them, the more instances that channeling, receiving energetic downloads and communicating with animals and those who had passed into spirit beings, began to spontaneously happen. The many deaths of my animals throughout my life initiated me and helped me find a deeper understanding around death in relationship within the cycle of life.

Mel lost her Mom to breast cancer when she was only 17 and then waited for her own diagnosis. She has also started her own publishing company and is an author twice.
