Welcome to episode 12 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.
After the massive success of crossover film Freddy Vs. Jason, New Line Cinema wanted to make a follow-up that would see the two horror titans Jason Voorhees & Freddy Kruger go up against Ash Williams from The Evil Dead series. Unfortunatley due to circumstances, it wasn't meant to be. However, the studio teamed up the F13's original studio Paramont Pictures to produced a remake of the franchise along with joining forces with filmmaker Michael Bay and his production company Platinum Dunes to make it since they had success with other remakes of horror classics like the 2003 version The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The end result being the 2009 remake of Friday The 13th, which was directed by TCM '03 helmer Marcus Nispel and written by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift of FVJ fame.
Joining your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz this remake of the franchise is writer/teacher Tyson Wils (you can find his website here). Highlights in this episode include Tyson discussing the first Friday The 13th film that he saw, Bede & Steve surprisingly agreeing on a F13 entry for the first-time since Part II, how the film is more of a reboot than a remake, is Trent the most detestable character of the whole series, the whole "Jason is a pot farmer" controversy, how the film is linked to the Transformers film franchise and so much more.

Welcome to episode 44 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.
After diving into the worlds of Dawn Of The Dead, the Zombi franchise and Night Of The Living Dead comics so far this year, there's one area that your host Bede Jermyn hasn't dive into in quite a while, which are re-edits of NOTLD. For this episode of the podcast, Bede takes a look at two such re-edits of the 1968 classic: the 1995 TV show Attack Of The 'B's' 11th episode Zombie Attack! and the 2024 rescored/re-coloured version from Synthwave Horror (you can watch both Tubi here and here).
Joining Bede to discuss these NOTLD re-edits is first-time guest critic/filmmaker/host Ron Purtee a.k.a. Uncle Ron (you can watch his YouTube channel here). Highlights include Ron discussing the firs time he saw the original Night Of The Living Dead, how Attack Of The Killer 'B's' edits down NOTLD into a 22 minute episode, does the episode suffer becuase of the removal of the film's important story elements?, wondering if Synthwave Horror's score on their version fits the film's tone, the bizarre use of a green filter over it and so much more.

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.
On the recent main 11th episode of the podcast, you hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz discussed and debated the merits of the Friday The 13th & A Nightmare On Elm Street 2003 crossover film Freddy Vs. Jason. Since that film has been in the works for 10 years, there was so different scripts that were written during that time before it was finally produced.
For this one, your hosts take a look at two of those scripts. However, they decided to take a unique apporach to them. Steve would pick one that he feels would have been better than the actually film, while Bede's pick would be one that would have been a lot worse than what we got. Those scripts being the 1995 draft from Peter Briggs (Hellboy '04) and the 1998 draft from Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger (the Kung Fu Panda series).
NOTE: On the episode, we had technical difficulties with our audio. Apologies for the inconvienece.

Welcome to episode 11 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.
During the time when the 10th entry in the Friday The 13th franchise Jason X was made, both New Line Cinema and original F13 director Sean S. Cunningham had been developing the dream project that had been talked about since it was concieved in the '80s: Freddy Vs. Jason, which would see Jason Voorhees take on Freddy Kruger from the A Nightmare On Elm Street series. After spending over years with so many scripts and filmmakers coming-and-going, the major crossover event was finally released in 2003 under the director of Ronny Yu (Bride Of Chucky, Bride With White Hair) and screenwriters Damian Shannon & Mark Swift (Friday The 13th '09)
Joining your hosts Bede & Steve to discuss this long-awaited epic match-up are first-time guests Trevor Snyder (co-host of the podcast Failure To Franchise) and filmmaker Adrian Castro (Hidden Peaks). Highlights in this episode include Trevor & Adrian discussing the first Friday The 13th film that they both saw, debating whether Freddy Vs. Jason lived up to the hype or not, does Ronny Yu's direction work for the film?, the controversial 'Jason is afraid of water' plot point, Ken Kerzinger's take on Jason Voorhees, wondering if Kane Hodder's Jason would worked for this entry and so much more.

Welcome to episode 42 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.
After taking a look at two completely unrelated films that were released as "Zombie 3" on the previous episode, your host Bede Jermyn continues his journey exploring the bizarre and confusing trend of film distributors re-titling random zombie films as entries in the Zombi series to capitalise on their success. On this episode, Bede dives into the next two unofficial Zombi sequels: the cult 1980 Italian horror film Burial Ground (a.k.a. Zombie 3) and director Jess Franco's 1973 Spanish/French erotic horror film A Virgin Among The Living Dead (a.k.a. Zombie 4: A Virgin Among The Living Dead).
Joining Bede to discuss these unofficial Zombie 3 and Zombie 4 "sequels" are returning guests Super Marcey (The Super Network, After Dark With Super Marcey), Lindsay Wilkins (the host of Schlock & Awe) and first-time guest Terence. Highlights include Terence's shocking confession about Night Of The Living Dead, what makes Burial Ground an entertaining and unitentionally hilarious bad zombie film, Peter Balk's creepy *child* performance as "Michael", Terence explains his love for A Virgin Among The Living Dead, divining into the many different cuts of the film, Marcey's favourite scene from one of the film's other cuts and so much more.

Welcome to episode 41 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.
Two episodes back on the podcast, your host Bede Jermyn looked at two completely random and unreleated zombie films from the '70s that were re-titled as "Zombie 3" in some parts of the world to capitalized on Italy's successful Zombi franchise. However, there were plenty of other films that were *also* re-titled as entries in the series. For this episode, Bede takes a look at two other films that had their titles changed to Zombie 3 in other countries: Zombie Holocaust and Nightmare City. Both of which were released in 1980.
Joining Bede to discuss this next two unofficial Zombie 3 "sequels" are returning guests Marcus Wilturner (writer/contributor for The Super Network) and John Seavey (Half Price Horror). Highlights include discussing how Zombie Holocaust doesn't work as whole, giving credit to the insame amount of gore in the film, why the zombie and cannibal sub-genres shouldn't mix, why Nightmare City is a-head-of-its-time for zombie films, being surprised how very intense it is, appreciating the film's twist ending and so much more.

Welcome to episode 40 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.
We've made it, everyone! The podcast has has hit its milestone 40th episode. Who would have thought that after diving into George A. Romero's Night Of The Living Dead in the first episode, your host Bede would have uncovered so many different versions and links to that legendary horror classic 40 episodes later. It has been quite journey so far, but there's more to explore in the future. For this episode of the show, Bede heads back into the world of NOTLD comic books by looking at another one that was released by Avatar Press: the 5 issue 2010 series Night Of The Living Dead V2 (Volume 2), that was written by Mike Wolfer & NOTLD co-creator John A. Russo and illustrated by Tomas Aira
Joining Bede to discuss this comic book series is returning guest and good friend Beatrix Harper. Highlights include how the series compares the previous Night Of The Living Dead themed comics that Avatar also released, praising how it takes a even handed approach to its themes, the complexity of the characters, discussing the comic’s most memorable zombie bite scene and so much more.Social Media Links:

Welcome to this bonus episode of Bede Vs. The Living Dead.
Unlike the main episodes of the show that only focus on all things related and linked to Night Of The Living Dead, these bonus ones will have your host Bede Jermyn explore other random zombie films (from both the famous to the obscure) that were made in the aftermath of George A. Romero's 1968 classic masterpiece.
For this one for the podcast, Bede is rejoined by his Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake co-host Steven T. Boltz

Welcome to episode 10 of Bede & Steve Vs. Camp Crystal Lake.
Now that New Line Cinema got Jason Voorhees back out into the public consciousness with the 9th entry Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday in 1993, the studio went to work on developing the match-up that teased at the end of it: Freddy Vs. Jason. Unfortunately, the film would be stuck development hell for quite a number of years. So, to keep interest in the franchise going, they decided to make another Jason film by taking him from Crystal Lake to outer space with the 2002 film Jason X, which was directed by Jim Isaac (House III: The Horror Show, Skinwalkers) and written by Todd Farmer (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine '09).
Joining your hosts to discuss this sci-fi themed 10th entry are first-time guests film critic Matt Konopka (KillerHorrorCritic.com) and Michael Edwards (a Senior Pastor at Good News Lutheran Brethren Church). Highlights in this episode include Matt & Michael discussing the first Friday The 13th film that they both saw, Michael's recent journey into the slasher genre, what everyone though of Kane Hodder's last hurrah as Jason, debating whether this is a fun campy film, wondering if the film have been better if it was directed by someone else, David Cronenberg's cameo and so much more.
