On today's episode, we talk about the advent season. Regardless of when you begin to celebrate Christmas each year, we can all agree that it's December 1st and it’s Christmas time. Today we are going to talk about expectations even in the waiting and inviting Jesus into whatever you are going through. Shayla shares a real-life example of how she encouraged our daughter by inviting Jesus into the worry.
Advent simply means arrival. The arrival of something. The arrival of Jesus as a baby born in a manger. However, we can also anticipate the arrival of Jesus in our everyday. The anticipation of Jesus. The expectation of Jesus. Jesus has moved in the past, he will move again.

On today's episode, we share a list of things that we are thankful for. Before we do that, Shayla shares a sweet treat recipe that will be loved by all during your Thanksgiving Day feast. Take some time this week to make a list of things you are thankful for and then share the list with someone. We promise that it will encourage you!

On today's episode, we talk about how most of us fall into one of two categories.
Before we jump into that discussion, we talk about last week's election and the unsteady state of our country. During such times, we must find joy in little things like Shayla does in Almond Joy candy bars. We share the joy we found in a day of geocaching with the kids. We then share the hope we found in Psalm 46:10 through Sunday's message by our pastor, Craig Groeschel at Life.Church.

When we find ourselves in a season of worry, some of us keep it inside, others verbally express it in an emotional burst. Each of us battle worry from time to time. There are minor worries and major worries. While in that season of worry, we can turn to Scripture to help us get through it. We can find direct hope from the red letters, the words of Jesus, in the Bible. We break down Matthew 6:25-34 and share 7 reasons to not worry.

On today's episode, we begin our conversation talking about the best Halloween costume of 2020, election Tuesday, and how we need to love each other through this time of our country being divided. We share a powerful quote from our lead pastor, Craig Groeschel. "No matter which party holds the office, our God still holds the world." We then talk through how to turn on the light when you find yourself in complete darkness. We share four ways to battle your own darkness to find hope, experience hope, and to share hope with others.

On this episode, we talk about the stress of everything virtual and how it impacts our kids and their emotions and actions. When stress comes, we are allowed to have the feelings, but we can't stay there. We must work through how we are feeling in order to navigate the stress together as a couple and in order to lead our kids. Hear why Shayla felt like she failed this past week as a wife and mom. We also share a "not so shining" parenting moment and how we recovered to use it as a teaching moment.
