I talk with Adam about the fourth episode of the 11th series of Doctor Who "Arachnids in the UK". Overall we liked the episode, but some of the subtext felt like it undermined the atmosphere and the story in places. Also both of us agreed that the tone could have been more consistent. We like humor in Doctor Who, and even in horror humor can work well, but this veered away from the atmospheric horror the episode establishes in the opening shot. Still we thought it was an entertaining episode and the spiders were quite effective.

Sau Ying murders her abusive and deranged husband with the help of her servant, Yi Wah, only to be plagued by visions of his ghost. But there is much more beneath the surface as truths are slowly revealed.
