  • Placeholder | Phonographics
    Hi!
I lacked time to deal with a guest this week so I'm throwing up a placeholder which is me tellin you a roundabout way that phonographics was born.
I actually enjoyed telling the story but as my brain works, each story is attached to 20 others, especially when it's about something I've been doin for almost 30 years, which is screenprinting.
I'm headed to San Francisco to pop up and sell my wares at Madone Art Bar on Saturday 3/27/2021. if you're around tha Bay I'd love to see you.

  • Episode 21 | Rafael Bustamante Sarria
    Aw YEAH!
Episode 21 of Been Doin' This is real good! My guest is Rafael Bustamante Sarria from the might La Gente SF. We had an awesome conversation about his musical journey, his San Francisco roots and you'll hear how what influenced him at an early age led to exactly what he's become: A creator, collaborator, co-conspirator and comrade.
PLUS at the end the episode you will get to hear kind of an EXCLUSIVE new track from his band 'SUAVATONA"!
Not a bad deal at all, eh?

  • Episode 20 | Philthy Dronez
    Yes yes y'all
This episode of Been Doin' This was really cool to record. I explain in the intro, but there were some surprising similarities that Philthy Dronez and I have in common. You've heard his music in my Paletas mixtapes so I asked him to come on and talk about how he became a multi instumentalist. His influences musically might not be what you expect!

    Episode 19!
Hi y'all! I'm back with another one!
This time with another bartender from Madrone Art Bar in San Francisco, this time there's a twist!
Krista Nakamura has been a trained pastry chef for a number of years and her COVID-19 pivot was from bartending a full sweaty bar, back to her roots. She offers SUPER CUTE lil meal kits along with custom ckaes and delicious baked goods!
Super fun conversation cause I love to cook as well! There are a couple pauses where I'm blank staring into the ZOOM camera cause her answers kinda blow me away.

  • Episode 18| Rojai
This episode's guest is arguably the hardest working frontman in San Francisco's music scene.
    ROJAI
You may know him from the legendary band, Bayonics, heard his work with E Live or B Bravo or seen his quartet The Pocket in a smaller venue if you've been around The City in the last 21 years. He has put out an incredible about of music and his versatility is far understated.
We talk about his career and motivations, maintaining a living as a musician in San Francisco and all of his projects and collaborations. I love this dude, and you will too.

  • Episode 17 The Feathered Leopard
    It's BACK!!!
    BEEN DOIN' THIS!!!!!
Been on hiatus while I get my bearings after the relocation. I kinda fucked up with the new mic so the audio isn't awesome but the conversation is good enough to listen to the episode. My apologies to Jenn for that! Luckily she sounds better than I do.
Here's some info about this episode's guest, my friend, The Feathered Leopard:
The Feathered Leopard is a 'one woman show' originally created in 2005, by Jenn Hall. While living in San Francisco in the early 2000’s, she started creating wild leather & feather earrings, then moved on to create custom leather fringe handbags, and other creative, yet useful leather goods.
In 2013, Jenn started tooling & dying her leather goods, and moved into stone (mainly Turquoise) Inlay in leather. "I’m a creative person at heart, and once leather became my canvas, I seriously fell in love." says Jenn.
In March of 2019, Jenn decided to take a chance and opened up a retail/workshop right outside of midtown Sacramento. As her business grew, she wanted to include the main aspects in her life that she could enjoy & share with others. She has special collection of original 60’s-70’s Home Décor, including Vintage Macramé Plant Hangers, as well as California Pottery, Glassware & more. You can now find her at the 2nd Sunday Antique Faire in Midtown Sacramento.
After the tough decision to close her retail shop during this Covid-19 Pandemic, Jenn now works from her home studio in Land Park, Sacramento. She is honing in on her stone inlay craft, and working toward developing tutorials and learning materials for people new to leatherwork or wanting to develop a specialized skill.
Jenn is a longtime avid gardener. She has landscaped, built beds, grown & cared for plants over the last 15+ years. She began propagating spider plants several years ago, and has moved onto a variety of succulents, jade, and cactus.
Her main focus has always been to create from the heart, connect & share with others, and practice her passion.

  • Episode 15 | Unite
Welcome back to Been Doin' This!
Episode 15 is special to me, a man I consider a brother, a best friend for 29 years, my mentor in so much of what I do and a guide to who I am. I am very pleased to have a 2 hour conversation with UNITE.
A very good DJ, an imposing and lyrically gifted MC/a prolific Music Producer, an experienced party promoter and so many other things, we are going to have to do more cause there's just so much to our journey together and we basically frame his life's work and leave some details and projects out. Sometimes the show isn't just about what we make, but what makes us.
    Please enjoy.

    We BACK!!
Took a couple weeks off for some quality time with Beatrice before returning her to her mother's care in Oregon.
This episode is basically a couple dudes in the music/nightlife industry chopping it up, but Andrew has forged his path and made a place or his scene in Austin TX to levels I wish I could sat I've achieved. He's also a very kind hearted dude and works to put people that are making music on. Check out his work in the links below!
