  • Episode 13 | Lady Ryan
We back after an unplanned week off!
My guest this episode is the talented and Soulovely DJ, Lady Ryan.
We talk about getting her love for music, getting her start as a DJ and crossing over from the Gay Club scene in The Bay and playing mixed rooms. She has a distinctive sound and style and most of her parties and projects end up becoming more of a brand and experience than a gig that happens in one place. There's a lot of ground we cover and we could probably talk for hours on a host of subjects. Check it out if you want to hear two acquaintances vibe out heavy for an hour or so.

  • Episode 12 | Shahid Buttar
    We back!
Took last week off due to some technical difficulties and scheduling issues so here we are with your episode of BEEN DOIN' THIS!!
Episode 12! It's fitting that the 12th episode of the show is with a Democratic Socialist candidate for Congress in California's 12th District.
I got to talk to Shahid Buttar about his origin story, how he got to San Francisco, his resume as an activist and how he ended up in a race for a congressional seat against the most powerful Democrat in the United States.
In my opinion he's a good dude living in the Haight with a real drive to properly represent average San Franciscans in the House Of Representatives.
Check it out and decide if you want to support. If you live outside of San Francisco, perhaps you can look to who is running in your elections or get involved remotely and phone bank for progressive candidates all over.

  • Episode 11 | Gunna Goes Global
    Welcome back!
This week for Episode 11 I have a very special guest.
Gunna Goes Global is a San Francisco Native, a rapper, actor, artist and self described "Gangstavist". He's been very active in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area's BLACK LIVES MATTER movement as of late. Himself with a group calling themselves the Bay Bridge 27 recently shut down the San Francisco Bay Bridge to traffic on Sunday 6/14/2020.
We discuss growing up Black in San Francisco, how the police is used to promote gentrification and touch on the demands of the Bay Bridge 27, their 8 point program and what he has come to expect from TECH in S.F. and Silicon Valley.
As usual with musicians I've added a tune before and after the interview.
Here's some links to follow Gunna, a gofundme that's direct to his group, his music and others to follow.

  • Episode 9 | Nico of Fleetwood SF
    Been Doin' This!
Episode 9 is great! I got to talk to Nico who runs the awesome art gallery/screen printing shop Fleetwood in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin.
Nico, like many of my guests has a drive to do what she loves and tends to go into her work with a commitment and willingness to let things work themselves out. I got to print at her shop for a day and I was very much at home with the vibes there. Below is the shop bio and some links!

Fleet Wood is a print shop, art gallery, and locally-made retail store in San Francisco where fresh t-shirts are printed daily. They've been printing their own brand of casual lifestyle apparel and accessories since 2010 and opened their brick and mortar in the Tenderloin in 2015. They hand screenprint each t-shirt one at a time, so each one is truly unique. Fleet Wood is focused on comfort and wearability, and their vintage tourism-inspired line of everyday tees represents chill vibes that engage both locals and visitors alike. They work hard, they play hard, and they respect that San Francisco hustle.

  • Episode 8 | Stuntdouble
Episode 8 is here and to be honest this thing is moving along FAST!
This week's guest is one of my longest standing friendships dating back to when I was 9 or 10 years old. We literally grew up together through several different phases and have remained close friends. He is a fierce rapper with a sometimes overwhelming stage presence. His music is genuine, thought provoking and serious, which is a perfect reflection of the man himself. A dependable and honorable dude I am blessed to consider him family.
Check out his music, produced by his partner and major DJ, Tenshun here:

  • Episode 7 | Tim Martinez
Another week another rad conversation with an old friend and a BIG influence on me.
If you ask Tim Martinez what he's been doin', there's a seeming infinite number of directions he could go in, in detail.
He's a multitalented, open, positive, driven person. I would say ENIGMATIC is a good descriptor.
We have a lot in common in where we came from as 80's skateboard kids, growing into DJs and artists there's a lot of parallels in our paths, however his ability to execute at a high level always escaped me until recently.
We talk early days and career paths up to present, he's involved in a very dope streetwear brand and consulting while raising twins and making music with his bad ass wife, Brevi who I am hoping to get on in the very near future.
A song they made together ends the show, a long one, but I enjoyed the playback and you have some time to kill so.... ENJOY!
    Thanks Tim for your time!

  • Episode 6 | Mónica María
    Hey gang!
Episode 6 is here and I had a chance to talk to Mónica María who is an AMAZING songwriter, singer, multi instrumentalist and healer based in Oakland, California. This is the first episode that I'm talking to someone I haven't known for years and years.
We had a nice conversation about her musical career to date leading up to her first full length album "Nuevos Caminos".
Since California has been sheltered in place due to COVID-19 she has been live streaming acoustic performances every Thursday evening on facebook that I HIGHLY recommend! All her music is up via streaming services... I encourage you to order her CD as well!
Here's the links where you can find her music!

  • Episode 5 | Chula and the Crocodile
I had a cool little chat with an old friend Vannessa who is also known by "Chula and the Crocodile. She is an artist, a toy collector and a DJ. We spend most of the episode talking about her cooking. She is AMAZING with food and I kinda kept it in that lane as I admire her style and recipes so much. I love to cook and I learned so much from her just hanging out in the kitchen when she would have me and Beat over for dinners.
Here's a link to her instagram, she will hopefully be popping up and doing some large format dinners again in the future and if you're anywhere near the San Francisco Bay Area I promise you it will be worth the trip!
    Thanks Vannessa!

  • Episode 4 | Cap N Pharaoh
This episode continues the autobiographical trend of the show, a long time friend joins me from New South Wales, Australia!
Cap N Pharaoh and I go way back, and as our lives parted ways in a somewhat extreme fashion there's still a lot of love between us. I'm so stoked that most of these have been with good friends. I was surprised at where his life had lead. We talk about his penchant for mischief, mechanics, moving around and somehow landing on his feet. He's built an off grid home only to have to defend it from the massive brush fires while he was moving his family in!
He's also a member of my patreon page so thanks for that Nate, much love and I hope to get to visit out there someday!
