This week we are graced with the presence of my friend Van, who now owns the title of second guest of the pod! 

In our typical fashion, Van and I made a last minute decision and met in the mountains of North Carolina last weekend. We spent time hiking and catching up, and this episode catches the tail-end of our conversations from the weekend. 

Van shares the challenges of being a first-generation college student and a female engineer, and amazes me with her ability to persevere, never letting anything stop her from achieving her goals. I am lucky to call Van my friend, and I know that everyone who hears her story will be inundated with inspiration. 

Much like inopportune moments of flatulence, fear is something we all deal with (and sometimes at the same time!).

A recent 5K that I somehow convinced myself was a good idea to run left me thinking about fear and all of the times it has prevented me from doing things that I really wanted to do. Well, no longer! 

Listen to this weeks episode to hear my thoughts on addressing fears, and coming to terms with the inevitable role it plays in life.

Listen as we go off topic, but with the ultimate intent of exploring different ideas relating to vulnerability and communicating. 

I am honored that Adam was willing to join the podcast, especially in such an experimental role as the first ever guest. After this great episode, there will certainly be more guests down the line.

Some times natural disasters really make you stop and think...

In this week's episode, I wrestle with the difficulty of addressing those things we just wish would go away on their own but, much like the hurricane that is ravaging the East Coast, can't be solved through simple means like pulling out an umbrella. 

Sometimes the voice inside your head can prevent you from using the voice that allows you to be heard by others. In this episode, I talk about the frustration that comes from silencing yourself, and explore the reasoning behind why we do this to ourselves time and time again. 

In this episode I discuss some of the ideas I stewed over while spending the summer alone in a new state. I grapple with the challenges of being by yourself and the importance of shifting your focus outward to find balance.

Disclaimer: This is my least favorite episode to date. I don't really agree with everything I said when I listen back, but I wasn’t really in a place where I resonated with the topic afterwards which is why I didn't re-record. This is also why it took so long for me to post it.
