Before They Were Famous

There has been a ton of scandals surrounding Vic Mensa's name and his BET cipher. Drama aside, you guys have been requesting this video for years. Vic Mensa has a pretty remarkable come-up story – he grew up with another famous rapper, got his start in a rock band and in his teens, he nearly died twice. There are plenty of reasons why he's become a voice for social justice as he runs his own nonprofit foundation. This is his Before They Were Famous.

Ella Mai is an English singer/song-writer originating from South London. Since around 2014, she has been making a name for herself as a supreme talent in R&B. Joining the group Arize in 2014, the trio took their talents to The X Factor. However, they never got past the first round and the group was short-lived. In 2015, Ella began uploading song covers onto Instagram and quickly caught the attention of people around the world.

Gunna is easily one of the most sought after rappers on the planet right now. Gaining massive popularity through his numerous mixtapes as well as YouTube videos, you can equate his recent success to that of a musical explosion... or tidal wave... or hurricane. Whatever you wanna call it, he's got pretty high hopes for the future. When asked what his goal is during an XXL interview, he stated that he “wants to be a rap icon”, later adding that he's going to be either the next XXL Freshman or Michael Jackson. While the future seems bright for Gunna, it wasn't long ago that he had some life choices to make. The Atlanta native was caught up in the street life as well as boring legitimate jobs on the side and a career in hip-hop seemed like quite the long shot. It wasn't until a friend of his introduced him to a popular A-Town rap star that things really began to change, a blowing up in the rap game was a serious possibility.

Mo Bamba is the subject of a worldwide rap hit. He and his pal Sheck Wes grew up together in New York City's Harlem, where they both shared a passion for basketball. But while Sheck ultimately chose a life in hip-hop, Mo stuck with it. In 2018, at just twenty years old, Mo was drafted to the Orlando Magic. At seven feet tall, this Magic center has had quite a rise to the top and with the new basketball season just beginning, we have high hopes.

Now while getting to the NBA is the goal for millions of young kids looking to make a career on the court, Mo's has been quite the journey, one filled with both ups and downs, including a family scandal involving his older brother.

A Star Is Born was the perfect role for Lady Gaga... an aspiring singer performer with an endless amount of talent and ambition who struggled to get her own big break. Gaga has turned down time and time again and resorted to working as a GoGo dancer and wrote for other stars like Fergie, Britney Spears, The P Cat Dolls, and New Kids On The Block. The man who gave Lady Gaga her big break wasn't Bradley Cooper but a man you wouldn't expect... Akon. But the road was long, hard, and dramatic.

Throughout the summer of 2018, the world sat on pins and needles awaiting Drake's response to Pusha T's Diss Track – the Story of Adidon. It was a surgical summer indeed for rap beefs BUT with this one... the months passed, the seasons changed, MGK went after Eminem for a taste of his Venom and we never heard squat from my man Drizzy...!!!

Well that all changed this weekend on LeBron James HBO show The Shop. To recap, Drizzy was befriended by Kanye. Drake helped him out on his album Ye, together they worked on a drake song Lift Yourself. Drake played him some music, told him about his baby mama drama and album release date. In the weeks following Ye trolled Drizzy every way he could...

Khabib Nurmagomedov has frequently claimed that he's "the Floyd Mayweather of MMA." Although he's catching up to Floyd with his undefeated winning streak of 27 to nill he's still got quite a ways to go to make himself worth a Billion dollars. Going into the UFC 229 fight Khabib's net worth was estimated that his net worth was around $1 Million dollars. He was to receive another $2 Million for the fight and then estimates around his cut from the paper view earnings are at $7 Million dollars. That bumps Khabib's net worth to $10 Million bucks but at the time of the recording his money is in limbo and his fate with the UFC is in question. Don't worry though, not only has he received offers from other fight organizations and it appears that Khabib has a few friends in high places back in his motherland Russia.

Shane Dawson first signed up for a YouTube account back in 2005 which puts him at an easy 5 years before Jenna Marbles was tricking people into thinking she was good-looking. This makes him a legitimate OG and one of the founding fathers of the platform. He's taken his creative genius in so many different directions it's like the man has already lived multiple lives. From early cringe content to conspiracy theories, to diss tracks and DIYs, Shane's illustrious career also serves as a time capsule of the evolution and diversity that is YouTube. He's also a fantastic example of how a great personality and a connection to your audience can make you a king online.
