Post Malone didn’t really take to music until he was 13, when he discovered the game Guitar Hero. After achieving a 5 star expert rating on every track, he decided to pick up a real guitar at the age of 16. Post taught himself how to play by watching tutorial videos on Youtube. It was that same year that Post joined a hardcore band and started to put together a mix tape. Then this happened.

His father was a war veteran, and often had violent episodes, suffering from bipolar disorder. The outbursts became second nature to the boy and his siblings but despite the environment Michael became a well-spoken and intelligent guy. Soon his dad’s behavior just became too much and he wanted to get it on tape so he could show him how awful he was to the family. The footage would prove to change their lives in a way they would have never guessed.

Diagnosed early on with a genetic kidney disease Phillip faced problems that matured him faster than others his age. When pursuing post-secondary studies he left his native New York to go to the South, where his last name was such a problem for the locals to pronounce it that he actually changed it. A string of poor financial decisions left him living in a car before finally moving back home, and even though his channel was getting a bunch of views on a newly-emerging platform known as YouTube he had run out of money and was forced to sell everything including the computer he used to edit his videos.

Speaking of which, We did a Before They Were Famous episode on her father, number 99 Wayne Gretzky and it actually didn't do that well, leading me to believe that maybe Paulina HAS stolen the almighty title of “The Great One” over her all star father.
