What is the UNLV CARE Center—and what can it actually do for students? In this episode of Behind the Beat, 91.5 HD2 The Beat’s Young Vegas talks with Sam from the CARE Center about confidential support available to the UNLV community and the events planned for Domestic Violence Awareness Month at UNLV this October.
The conversation breaks down the CARE Center’s resources for people impacted by power-based violence, including sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking and family violence. Sam also explains how students can support victim survivors, recognize warning signs, become active bystanders and help create a safer campus community.
UNLV students looking for ways to get involved in October will also hear about free Domestic Violence Awareness Month events, including CARE Center presentations, Ink in Action with the Barrick Museum of Art, Don’t Be Chicken: Active Bystander Training, Purple Thursday and Take Back the Night on October 29.
