I'm influenced by the music that was happening in NYC in the early 2000s. I talk about Fab's playing on albums by The Strokes and how playing along with them helped me have fun playing the drums. It's important to have fun when learning something new and I credit Fab's playing with helping me play along to songs with good structure and also developing time as a drummer. I talk about how important playing to a metronome is and I relish with some stories about playing San Fernando house parties.

Besides having a cool last name, David Lovering stood out to me the summer of 2004 when I saw Pixies reunite at Coachella music festival. That year changed my life for the better. I was becoming a musician and falling in love with music, drums, and drummers! In this episode, I talk about the drummer of the band Pixies. He's a rock drummer but plays with subtleties of every genre. David is a master of combining styles and one of my favorites.
